I don't know if it would be legal for you to tell us who this installer is, but it sure might be helpful~!

I hope it's legal... Since when is poor service and shady practices not something to warn people about? Reviews are big part of all internet sales.

Before dropping a name, I personally would give them (installer) a chance to make it right and for the OP to follow through with topic in case it turns out for the good. Since the OP did not witness actual prep then there is no proof that they aren't fixing it correctly but from the side of the story I am getting, I am VERY curious as to who the installers are. For the OP's sake... I hope he gets a perfectly sprayed final result for the price of 3 days without his truck.

Best of luck to ya.

Oh, no. I walked out into the bay. I saw the mess. One guy even exclaimed "It wasn't the prep". Maybe not. Does Line-X use a red looking primer? I know they tried to spray it twice and got bubbles twice and then never even had the decency to call me today to let me know they wouldn't be working. I mean, the guy lives in the parking lot so it wouldn't take long to get to work.

I definately know the score and won't badmouth a company before they have a chance to fix it but this is a little beyond belief for me. I just needed to vent. It would be different if the truck was used and I was paying a used truck payment. This thing is new and I haven't even made the first payment. I deserve to have a perfect truck. It shouldn't be a truck with a scrapped up bed with uneven bedliner sprayed in it nor should it be a truck that had to have the bed replaced.

If this thing is a mess I plan to just get rid of it. I don't think I have ever been this upset about anything. I wouldn't be upset this much either if they hadn't turned me away Friday for humidity, then sprayed it on a day that was storming. On top of that they swore that I would go home in my truck that day....so they planned on cutting corners and doing sloppy work to get me out the door. Then what respectable business keeps a customer until after 7PM at night when they were suppossed to close at 5PM? Just tell me it will be one more day. They were trying to sweep my situation under the rug.

Spray in liners are nice but they fade fairly quickly, at least black does. When they did my truck they sprayed right over top the bolts to take my tailgate handle off.

My 2003 rarely had the tonneau on and it looked as good in 2008 as it did in 2004. My 2011 has the tonneau on usually and it looks great too. My brother had Rhino on his Ranger and it faded like crazy but Line X is the best out there.

I can't go get a truck that is locked in their building especially when they didn't come to work today. I called the Line-X home office today twice and the regional manager didn't call me back.

Praying for ya man. I saw the prep on you tube. NOBODY is sanding and grinding my new paint (unless it's for repair). I put in a bed rug and a semi hard trifolding Chevy tonneau and love it. It locks on the inside and I got a Pop And Lock. I'd do it all over again but maybe use a Fold A Cover G4 Elite instead.

The whole point of Line-X is to replace the paint...what does it matter if they have to scrape and sand the paint that will never see the light of day again....?

thats the reason i never installed a spray in liner. as soon as i found out they strip the paint from the bed, no way i was doing that to a brand new truck. bed rug is something everyone should invest in.

Function > form. I like Line-X. And will be installing it in my truck soon. I could care less how the paint looks in the bed of a pickup truck. I'd rather have the spray lining.

I am not worried about the paint. I knew going into this they were going to have to scuff up the paint and make a proper surface for adhesion. I got mad at their business practices and that they had to grind out the first 2 applications because they did something wrong either with prep, application or moisture came into play. I am not worried about the paint. I am worried about grinding the metal and the possibility that corrosion under the liner will cause future problems. Not to mention they have had my truck for several days and tried to slop it together that night to get me out the door and when it didn't work and the mess was exposed my wife had to come get me after 7PM. The whole thing stinks.

I also question, as tough as Line-X is, how they plan to get the extra coats off the tiedown hooks and other complex surfaces to make adhesion proper and to ensure that the final coat is a uniform thickness.

No doubt some things will work better for others. Different strokes... That said, don't they dip the metal? Unless they are stripping and re-dipping before re-spraying, rust never sleeps. Even a powder coat chips.

What is Line-X corporate doing for you buddy? This sucks. The issue is you found a bad Line-X installer. I had a flawless, excellent install in Brandon, FL. They did my '07 F250. I really liked the Line-X. They were so meticulous taking things apart, screws etc. You need to get that truck to a different installer. I would NOT allow them to even try to fix it. Demand a new location do the repairs. Coatings/paint is a trade. First strike is the guy is living in a camper in the parking lot. Go visit/research other install locations and just drive your shit there and document everything before you leave with video/photo. my 2 cents. And keep pushing Line-X corporate. Keep us updated. I was wanting to have my new truck done with line-x. But if they don't make this right with you, that's enough for me to just get a rubber bed mat and roll-lock.

Well, your story clinches it for me. I'd rather throw a rubber mat in the bed and let the insides of the bed get scratched up than deal with this kind of anguish. I feel for you man. Hang in there.

Sprayed in bed liners that are done correctly will last forever. The one on my truck has been on since we bought it in 2002 and its holding up amazingly well. Zero complaints at all, not even about fading and I'm in the desert! I forgot what brand it is, perhaps Rhino Linings or a brand that begins with a K.

If its a real truck that will work (even light duty) I wouldn't want a plastic shell dropped in. Moisture and debris gets in there and its nowhere near as tough.

Wow. If it were me I would head to that shop first thing in the morning, and see what's going on. If they're still stuck I would calmly tell them to forget about it, and that after 2 unsuccessful attempts you will be taking it elsewhere. Sounds like their lost on what to do, and you don't need a possible ruined bed over their stupidity.

I also wouldn't worry so much about the paint being grinded off as much as any gouges ground into the bed, or an uneven coat that looks horrible.
