On my 07 i had lineX beat the hell out of it, Im a builder and trust me i beat it to death, I did get 2 small chips/tears in it the size of a dime. It held up well for years. Now i had my truck ordered wiith gm spray liner and was gonna be a little worried how it would show up. The send it next door to FT Wayne assembly plant to GFX. I have to say I am extremely impressed, looks exactly like linex and perfectly done, drain holes not covered, all caps for tie downs etc must have been put on after (usually sprayed over), no over spray. Looks unbelieveable, and it was around $125 cheaper. The only difference is GM doesnt spray the side top rails, but the logo bed rail caps look good. I cant say enough how perfect it was done, my dealer is gonna start ordering it for some inventory vehicles

would like to see pictures sound nice I didn't know it was a factory option always thought dealer sent it out, thanks

Only for regular and double cabs last time I checked. Apparently Mexico doesn't have a bed spray capability yet.

If line-x was smart they would fix this problem and at least have the decency to call you back. It is a great product but unfortunately it is run through franchise so you will get some that are good and some bad. Either way corporate should stand behind it and do something, its very dissapointing to hear this. Bad reviews can kill a product, just look at all the people that are reading this and probably wont get line-x now.

I would still be all over Line-x to make this right, no way I would take a truck with 2x-3x more line-x than needed. Extra weight, poor adhesion down the road and as you said the tail gate wont shut and the drain holes are now sealed up.

If it is as bad as you say I would be perssing Line-x corporate to set up and fix this right or else a small claims law suit might be in order. Sounds like a new installer for sure.

I'm definitely second guessing it, that's for sure!

Me too. If I don't find out if this franchise is not in my State, I'm pretty sure I'll be cancelling my appointment for next Thursday.

If I pull in their lot and see a camper/RV set up, they'll be hearing tires screeching away. They might even be squealing!

Don't look like we'll be getting that information? It would make my decision a lot easier though. Thanks if you can.

I can relate to this whole story and I really feel bad for you CBSAF but what it also brings up is how in todays world there is a whole culture of people who have NO F$%^KING idea what they are doing at their work and it is almost like they just bluff their way through. Yet they all expect to be paid like millionaires and do jack for it!

Hope it all works out for you in the end! I have been thinking about this all night since I read your story!

Best of Luck!

You hit the nail right on the head! That way up in the Great White North too, EH? Scary, isn't it? Slackers and Scammers really grind my arse!

Alright, well I went an picked it up this morning. It turned into this afternoon. I had to wait 2 more hours. The bedliner looks fine but it is not the same as my last 2 Line-X liners.

The driver's side is very thick. The whole thing is twice as thick as a normal Line-X but the driver's side may be closer to 3 times as thick. It is so thick the tailgate is hard to close and you must push inward to open the tailgate without overstressing the plastic tailgate latch handle. I had to add a thin coat of vaseline to keep the tailgate from sticking to the bed and I am keeping it closed to hopefully compress it as it cures over the next 24 hours. Light is visible through the tailgate seam everywhere except that driver's side.

There are scratches and scrapes in the area the tailgate latches catch the bolt to hold the tailgate shut on both sides. Not a big deal but whatever. On my last truck the tailgate was sprayed and then the top edge of tailgate plastic covered the Line-X so you could not see where it ended. On this one the end of the Line-X is visible. The drain holes that are normally in the front of the bed are completely sealed. Rain will have to spill out the back. I might go look at a new truck to get an idea how big the holes are suppossed to be and get a bit a littler smaller and drill through just the Line-X.

The one thing that stands out the most is they put on an emblem under the Line-X that is sprayed over but they never put the yellow warranty tag on. I still love Line-X but I will be hard pressed to use this installer again. In the end it is just a truck and there is no need to stress about it.

Any updates? Installation company name/location?

I got Line-X installed 6 hours after picking up my new truck at the dealer. It's perfect.... all about the installer.

I would be happy with, "NOT IN MICHIGAN". :sigh:

Yeah, it is what it is. I trimmed up the really bad edges of the tailgate and used a little Duplicolor to fill in the gap between the plastic tailgate trim piece and where the Line-X stops. The tailgate is still hard to close and you have to push inward to open it but it is just how it will have to be. I will drive it for now and trade it in when I get the chance. I haven't had it a week and the permanentness of this problem has soured the whole ownership of the truck for me. I'll not make this mistake again.

Man don't let them off the hook to make your truck right. You trusted them and paid good money and you expected a quality job. Obviously that didn't happen. You shouldn't have to live with the tailgate the way it is, and I question the quality of the whole installation. And now you're having to paint to hide a gap? Unless I'm missing something.....

So can you at least fill us in on who these folks are?

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
