If only y'all had something setup prior to Christmas! I was just up in Rochester, visiting family for the week. I would have definitely been willing to haul them back down to him (it'd be nice if the excess gas from Rochester/Blaine and OKC/Texas was covered though, as I would have done the Rochester/OKC part with/without wheels as I gotta get home somehow) lol

I make the drive 3-4 times a year, my whole family is up there. Good thing I consider driving "therapeutic" haha. My girlfriend hates the drive. Before we got together, the furthest she'd ever gone was southern KS (3 hours) as opposed to the 10.5-11hr drive lol.

 

My dad used to live down here with me, but he actually recently moved back up to be with his parents/siblings. He and I both enjoy it up there ten-fold compared to down here in OK. It's a night and day difference socially, as well as the scenery.

I'm still not particularly fond of my optional 275/55/20 chrome OEM wheels and have considered OEM 18" wheels in 275/65/18 which would be nearly identical in diameter to the chrome OEM wheels. I have read here that 18" wheels ride better than 20 or 22 inch wheels. Is there any reliability to that statement?

The more tire you have the softer the ride has potential to be. Tires are part of the suspension. Of course if you get low pros or big heavy 10 ply tires your gonna ride a bit stiffer. So yeah it's valid. Has little to do with the wheels, just how much sidewall you got on the tires

If all other factors are equal, the larger rim (less rubber) will equate to a harsher ride.

 

I've got the OEM 18" with non-LT 275/65r18 Nittos and the ride is the same as stock. I will say that there is plenty of room around this tire, even without a level, so I would recommend 285/65r18 if you want a beefier look.

Now I understand the statement. The 18" 275/65/18 tires put 7" between the rim and the road while the OEM 20" 275/55/20 tires put 6" between the rim and the road. The swap I was considering leaves the speedometer essentially the same without the need for a correction.

Then, I would have to agree. Even though I don't have the experience, I would have to assume with the bigger sidewall that is presented on the 18 vs 20, that it would be a better ride.

After going through several posts on here and researching quite a bit (tire size, tire weights & tire dimensions, level kits, etc.) here is my setup. I was undecided between 305/55 vs 33x12.5 (bit more height vs bit more width in relation to amount of rubbing). I wanted to go aggressive as possible without losing too much comfort on ride. Mud terrains look great however eventually were not an option considering this is my daily and I never go off road. More then happy with how it looks. Love these tires + rims combo. Interestingly enough I wanted to go 20x9 +1 offset however the place I got my set from said Fuel was on backorder on that size and this rim color until February. I'm glad I went with the 20x10 since it gave me the lip on the rims and looks more aggressive. Pretty good rub initially however I trimmed the plastic piece at bottom back of front fenders along with a little tapping of the metal underneath the felt. Barely rubs at full lock in reverse. Rubs so little that once tires wear down a bit it no longer will. Hope this helps someone out there.

Is your truck 2WD? I am wondering because I have a similar setup (20x10 -24 fuel nutz w/ 305/55 mud terrains) and I barely rubbed in reverse before I did any trimming. After I trimmed the plastic and zip tied the fender liners back, no rubbing at all.

 

Regardless, that combo looks awesome on black. I almost went with the same wheels but a friend of mine got them on her dodge so I picked something else.

If you were local, it'd be a done deal. Pretty much what is holding me back is that I don't want to have 2 sets of wheels laying around! Did that way too much with the G8.
