Last I checked when you tapped into the wiring to install subs on any 6.2 you'd get feedback because of the active noise cancellation these trucks come with. Has there been any workaround this yet?

How did it go for the guys with storage boxes and the kicker?

I cut my box down with a gigsaw.... Followed the form of the sub box. It doesn't butt up to the sub box for fear of rattling. Just off by a hair.

Can you post a pic? Do you have factory or aftermarket like a du ha box?

I will try to take a picture later today....the storage box was installed by the dealer, so I assume it is GM's.

Hello all. I am new to the Silverado and just picked one up 2 weeks ago. I am looking at the amp/sub upgrade from shopchevyparts.com and was also wondering if anyone else has switched out their factory speakers also? I was looking at putting in Kicker 6x9 41KSC694 in the front door and Kicker 41KSC674 in the back door. Does anyone know what size the dash speakers are?

Thanks for answering my questions and for posting your thoughts and experiences of this amp/sub combo.

Does anyone that installed this also have full coverage rear floor mats? I didn't think when I ordered the floor mats and now am concerned about how the sub will sound sitting on the mats vs the carpet. Worst case is I don't like it and just take a knife to trim the floor mat around the sub.

I have the full rear seat husky liner and haven't noticed any negative effects. I did put two hard foam spacers inbetween the sub and the mat to ensure there was no additional noise though.

One more question to use that have the 6.2 and non bose system. Do I have to do anything with the sound cancelling aspect that gets added when you have the 6.2?

So, I bit the bullet and purchased the Kicker Powerstage Soundgate "kit" from www.shopgmcparts.com They had the lowest price that I was able to find and don't believe any of the BS from AutoAnything about pricematching... They don't do it. They try and use smoke and mirrors, but they fail.

Anyway, the install was easy. My strong suite is not reading directions, but the directions provided were actually clear and helpful. With the helpful information provided within this thread I was ready for the hard part of fishing the power wires through the firewall. That was the most difficult part. However, thanks to the other posters, I thought it went as simple as can be.

The install took about 2.5 hours, simply because it was cold out and I was in no hurry. Oh and somebody routed the cable to the sub woofer backwards. Remember, read the directions...

How does it sound? Frickin amazing. Far better than I expected. My own media is simply awesome, but what impressed me is what it did to XM. I wasn't sure how much it could help the compressed audio from outerspace, but it improves that 110% as well.

The best part about this way of doing things is everything is plug and play and you keep the factory look of the dash...

So is there no way us Denali owners can use this?

earlier in the thread, I believe somebody has used the Kicker Soundgate along with the factory subwoofer. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, you could use the same signal the factory subwoofer amp receives and split it to the amp of the Kicker.

    • Mobil up another dime this am , $3.89, others will probably go up later. Any ideas on the reason for the increase other than greed? I've been working 14 hour days and haven't caught the news in a few days.
    • AMSOIL SS is about prevention and it is very good at it's job. I've never seen it claim to be a cleaner however like Valvoline R&P. Almost any oil that has some Ester or Alkylated Naphthalene in sufficient quantity will do a good job at keeping the rings functional.     I see the market splint among these types in two groups; those that use the same tech in every weight grade and those that reserve the tech for the EPA (EPA) friendly grades. Mobil 1 for example keeps the Advanced Clean chemistry out of the SAE 40 and up weights. Other like HPL (top shelf group and No-VII), Red Line HP, TORCO, MPT30K use the tech in all grades. Just not something the Wally World oils are into.

    • True. My statement needs qualification. "For a shade tree mechanic, re-assembling the front engine to achieve a rough baseline timing of 0 degrees, as is approximated and indicated by common visual indicator mark alignment, measured with a human eye capable of 20/20 vision *with correction, I am reasonably confident that I have followed the outlined procedures/ prescribed methods for verifying baseline timing."   😉   In the end, the computer sets the timing, it's continuously variable based on sensor input, and the distributor only has a degree or two of physical adjustability intended for dialing in the final setting for cam ****** once everything is back together. But even that final value is acceptable within, I believe, +/- 3 degrees.   I thought my exhaust project was going to be a bear. To my surprise, the old clamps came right off last night, and I was able to unbolt all the hangers instead of having to muscle the rubber mounts. The old cat is ready to slip off the factory y-pipe. The rest is ready to come out with one or two cuts, and I've got a fresh blade waiting. I love living where rust isn't a thing.
