This area of the forum scares me.

They are dealing on the 14s now and the deals will get better with the 15s coming out in a few weeks. The only concern I'd have is the vibration issue. I'd drive it up to 80 - 85 mph and make sure it doesn't vibrate. If it does try a different truck. Mine is and earlier build and has been flawless, the nicest vehicle I've ever owned, and this is my fourth new Chevy truck. If you buy it, I'd bet you'll love it. This forum is about people having problems. The majority of us are out enjoying our new trucks and have had zero issues.

I guess in all fairness the biggest problem people are reporting is the vibration issue. Recalls and other warranty items seem to be taken care of promptly by GM and dealers.

Just be aware that just because a truck test drives fine doesn't necessarily mean it's home free with the vibration issue. A lot of us have developed a vibration after a couple thousand miles although I suspect it's a different vibration than the vibration people are feeling from day one. Sometimes the late developing vibration is tire related and sometimes people are still chasing the problem.

I still maintain that the new telescoping steering wheel and electronic steering transmit more road imperfections than the former hydraulic power steering and non telescoping wheels.

Every brand has a site like this that is worse than this one. This is mild to some of the other brand issues.

Blue, don't let the time sitting on the lot scare you. Mine sat on the lot in Houston from June 2013 to when I bought it in April 2014. The dealer had already performed the recall work. I have not had any issues in 2,000 miles. The only thing I would worry about in your case is the 1 incident on Carfax. If that's the case, I'd negotiate the heck out of it. Be prepared to walk and I'm sure they would be calling you back soon since it has sat for so long.

The weird thing about the carfax (I didn't buy it by the way) is I tested 10 different brand new silverado vins from various dealer sites and every single one had at least one carfax incident. The other truck I'm looking at had 7 listed.

As for the deal I haven't heard from the dealer since closing time Saturday so they may have sold it. Who knows. It's only one of two trucks I've been able to find in the entire state of Texas that has the setup I want. Both in Houston.

So we'll see if they get back to me. If not I'll wait until Dec/Jan and order a 15 the way I want it and try to time it with taking delivery during truck month. We'll see.

The 1 Carfax statement will probably be the vehicle was shipped to the dealer. With it being so close to the release to the 2015s, unless you get a killer deal on a 14, you might as well wait to see what improvements will be made. Rumor of a 10 spd is coming to the 15

I'd wait. There will always be trucks out there. Patience pays off.

If they did the fire recall, that might be whats on the Carfax report. If that all thats on it thats not a problem.

I'm almost positive that's what it is. Probably accounts for all the others I've tried have at least one carfax incident too.

If you think the 6 speeds shift strange, wait till they put a 10 speed automatic in. I would not buy one of those for at least two years. They will most definitely have issues with them for a while.

No issues with my 2014 CC 5.3 4WD Z71 SLT. 2000 miles now. I traded in a 2013 CC 4WD SLE. This '14 is so awesome. 16+ MPG city already and it's not even close to being broken in.

I have the same as austingta. 2014 CC SB 5.3 4WD Z71 SLT. But I have around 3300 miles on it. I am loving mine. No issues so far except for that when I bought the truck the dealer hadn't readjusted the headlights after they put a leveling kit on it. Well I also had a taillight bulb stop working as a brake light. But that was one of those 1 in 1,000,000 kind of things.

If you are still on the fence, keep a few things in mind:

If you hadn't seen any of this, ie, the forum, some of these people with issues, would you still be on the fence? Or would you already have a 2014 in your driveway? If you would already have a 2014, then go get one!

It's a first year run, all first year runs will have something, but you don't buy a first year run becuase you know it will be perfect.

This is something to consider too:

Actually, GM this month has recalled about 5.5 million cars and trucks. All told, the company has recalled 13.8 million vehicles since January at a total cost of $1.7 billion.

That's enough to wipe out much of the company's annual profits, according to The New York Times.

From what I read, the 10 speed transmission is years off from being available. Probably 2017 at the earliest. There's also rumors of an aluminum Silverado/Sierra offering in 2018. I wouldn't be surprised to see those two changes occur in the same truck at one time, but if things go well with the transmission development, that could be out sooner. That's one reason I snatched a '14 because I wanted a 6 speed before they got rid of it. While I always loved my 4 speed, I'm pleasantly surprised with the smoothness of the 6 speed....I hardly even notice it's shifting. But I have my concerns about a 10 speed and I would want that to be out for 3 or 4 years before buying a truck with one in it.
