I was coming into town this afternoon from the farm and picked up a nail in my front passenger tire. The tire was completely flat when I came out of a store thus my adventure began! First off I could see the jack and tools under the back seats but I was unable to figure out how to access them and remove them to use. I physically tore the back of the rear passenger seat from its morrings to access the jack, then managed to get the wing nut undone on the jack handle pieces etc. from under the rear driver side seat. It was tedious and nuts! What am I not getting! How do I properly access and remove the tire jack and handle pieces etc. from under the rear seats?

Moved topic. To the op, extended or crew cab? Seat should fold to give access to tools. Check owners manual. Always good to know where tools are before you need them.

On both my 2009 & 2012 GMC Sierra SLE crew cab, the jack was held into a floor bracket by it's "own tension". You have to first unscrew the jack some to release it from how it is held in place...

The jack tools are all bundled together in a nice, sound-proof, leather bag. The bag is held down by a clip & a large plastic wing-nut on top- Which you have to completely unscrew from the floor to pull everything out...

Do you have a Classic or NBS? Classic you have to fold the bottom of the seats forward. If your front seats are all the way back you have to move them forward a bit. Until the bottom portion is far enough forward it will not release the top part. If NBS I'm not sure.

Lesson learnt? Carry a full size jack. I carry one in a small toll box in my bed. That and a good amount of tools and misc itema.

Don't put too much effort into answering this one guys.... Snoopdog hasn't been back since he posted. He may be a "one-hit wonder"

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies. I've been able to remove the jack & handle now without tearing the back seat off it's morrings. Cheers!
