I know, this truck was suppose to be the last one I bought. Owned it for 15 months now. Only has 5500 miles on it. Had a 1994 Ford with less issues. Thinking of trading in and going to a F150. Hate to do it though, thought I was stepping up lol.

Hey guys, never owned a GM before, but I have a '15 Yukon rental that I realized was stuck in 4wd. I really liked the truck, so I wanted to see if I could get it out of 4wd instead of taking it back and swapping it out. The knob wasn't doing anything, so I disconnected the negative terminal, went into the fuse box in the engine bay, and took out the 40A fuse that says 4wd something lol. Now the stabilitrak light is on, as well as service 4wd, but the truck is back in 2wd!! This is a quick fix for someone that doesn't want to ruin their $60k truck, and cant take it into the dealer soon. Hope this helps someone, even though it's just a half assed fix!

This worked on my 2014 GMC. Taking it for the update later today.

My 2015 Silverado is currently sitting in my garage locked in 4wd! Got it 2 months ago! Just happened to find this thread with a Google search. I'm pissed off to say the least. The first I can get in to get it fixed is Tuesday (today is Friday). Is there a permanent fix?? Why wasn't this addressed before i drove it off the lot!?

Recall 15304. There are several threads on it. Call your dealership, give them your VIN, and see if the recall applies. My guess is that it does.

 

I purchased a 2014 two months ago, asked the dealership to make sure all of the recalls/TSB's/ updates were applied before I purchased. They assured me they were. Found this forum the next week, found the 15304 recall soon after, and called the dealership. Sure enough, it hadn't been done.

The recall is not very old. You probably picked it up before it was released.

So now I'm freaked out...I just bought a 2015 sierra 1500 z71. 3000 miles on it now. I live in Ohio and going to be getting snow and cold. Is this happing to all of them? Or just some?

No need to freak out. Just call you dealer and make an appointment to get the update done ASAP. In the mean time, just make sure to switch your truck back to 2WD before shutting it off. You can put it back in 4WD after you start it again and just repeat that process until you get the update.

How far aback does this bulletin go? This problem has been around since they started using this transfer case in 07 :tear:

 

I have a NBS 2007 Z71 and have experienced this message every winter since I got it 3 years ago.

 

Today was our first cold spell at 27f and the truck was left in 2wd and on startup there was the all too familiar message :nonod:

 

After it warmed up a restart seemed to clear the message.

There is a fix for this just published, can't find it but it's been discussed here just a day or two ago.

Just got the word that they expanded it to my build as well (Feb. 2015). Truck is all good now.

just posted on another topic on this forum for very same thing. guess everyone is having this problem. happened to us in our 16 yukon denali in 90 degree weather twice. although i was in auto mode. dealer reset TCM and told me no fix so dont ever use Auto mode again. haven't used since and haven't had that particular problem.

Thanks for the tip on pulling the 4WD fuse, my 2015 Sierra 1500 is stuck in hi-4, nice to get it out of 4WD until I can get it to the dealer.

Did you put the fuse back in and see if it pops out of 4WD?  If it returns to normal and can't duplicate the issue, the dealer probably won't fix it :P

      I just brought home a 2020 GMC 1500 Denali.  She has 53K miles on her and I want to change out the fluids over the next few weeks.  I see the diff covers don't have drain plugs.  Any suggestions where I can pick up front and rear diff covers with drain plugs?   Thanks,   Bob

      Well, the dealership got the compressor and installed it. Air at the vents seems nice and cold as it should be. The service manager said the repair has a two year warranty and unlimited mileage. Hopefully I don't have to use it. The dealership i went to was one where I bought my 2014 half ton silverado. In 10 years and 168k miles on the truck anything I needed done and two small recalls they were always very good to me. Not a huge dealer either. I think they treat people well because they want you to come back. I have dealt with a different dealer that was too big to care about an individual. Just my two cents.

      Hi All, I operate my 2021 3500 SLT most of the time with the tailgate off and in a crate because I have a slide-in camper. However, at least once a year, I take the camper off and put the tailgate back on. Recently I installed the tailgate, but had a hard time getting the connector bail to swing to the fully latched position. The connector seems to fully seat, and everything works, but the bail doesn’t swing to fully latched position.  It swings almost there but stops and I am afraid to push it any harder.    Does anyone have any advice on cleaning or lubrication or anything else I should be doing?  i know how to properly operate the connector. During the time the tailgate and connector are off, i have a double plastic bag over the truck connector secured with rubber bands to keep it clean, but it still had some dust in it this time when I blew it out with compressed air. I didn’t want to spray it with anything other than air without doing some research. Thanks.

      There are a lot of spammer's that do that, quote something and add some commentary to make it seem legit, but modify the quoted text a bunch making sure when posted it's long enough to be "click to expand", and either immediately insert a spam link, or come back after some time and edit it to add the spam link.

      Hello @jaszr2 Do you have a link for the item? I put a replacement bumper on my truck and consequently had to relocate the shutters. I studied on them a while, and figured if you left a couple key blades, you could get most of the airflow with probably no throwing codes.
