Head light condensate

Looking for some helpful advice

Hello guys, I did a h.I.d kit on my 2015 Sierra and I used silicon and some weather rubberized tape for sealing windows and I still got condensate in one of my lights after 4 days of rain. I resealed with silicon and used some metal tape this time. But is their any advice on getting existing condensate out. When the rain stops next I was planning on opening the back and blowing a heat gun in the inside.

It seems like condensation in the headlights is common problem, even when brand new on the lot. Apparently it's a problem GM has recognized, just no fix yet. I read a forum awhile back on condensation in our headlights and it seems people opened the dust cap and put dehumidifying little bags in their headlights and would change them out I believe every 4-6 months. They said it worked and they no longer had condensation. Just one fix I have heard of.

Thanks, I was thinking that exact thing I was gonna also blow some air in it for a little while then put a desacant packet in it for awhile. Just wasn't sure if that was enough

I've read of people blowing hot air in there too, but what I've read it would eventually come back when it rained again. Sounds like if you blow hot air in there, then the dehumidifying packages you should be golden. Let us know how it works out if you do it!

Will do!!!! Need to wait until it stops raining and dries up a bit.

My 15 always dryed out on it's own.

FWIW, the truck was always out in the rain and snow.

I used a blow dryer facing the front lens / sitting 10" away from the lens. Another dryer circulating air from the back cap. Do this for an hour or so and it will go away. I then added 3 small shoe box bags of desiccant. Tape a string to them and the back cap so they would not fall deep in the light.

On my back caps I use hot glue to seal. I seal it inside and out on the hole I drilled. I use a good amount of glue. Make sure your cap seals and turns to lock in.

Just checked out TRS site and the have Silica moisture packs for $5 which should help. They also have 3m gore text patches that let water out but not in for $5. If my above work fails I'll try this stuff.

In some cars condensation is normal. Had an 11 Z06 and it would get a slight amount going from garage to out doors or vise versa. I still hate moisture in my lights.

Sometimes my condensate pretty bad, i just pop open the dust caps and let it air out for a bit. It is annoying but what are you going to do about it... never heard of the dehumidifying bags before, going to have to look into that.

Shouldn't they be replacing these instead of telling you to fix it yourself? I mean these trucks are BRAND NEW. I have a 14 and I just got really bad condensation the other day on my left front high beam. It really pisses me off!!

They will replace them for you if you go in and ask them to. The thing is though, it will still happen with the your new ones cause its the same headlight. It is a problem that GM knows about, they just haven't come up with a fix yet. There are quite a few guys on here who went in and got their headlights replaced just to have them fog right back up.

The Dessicant packages work great for eliminating this. I put a couple in each light after putting in new LED bulbs in my truck. I ordered from ebay and got like 100 little packages for 3 bucks or something. I would be happy to share with anyone wanting some of these things because they are just sitting in a bag in my rec room. PM me with your info if you would like some.
