not sure about the other trims but always having the 6.2 on constraint seems like it would be bad for business. From my experience the 6.2 is just an awesome engine

Loving this. Now if they can work out the issues with the shaking/vibrations/transmissions, there will be a good truck to put that 6.2L in.

I will take a 6.2 but I want my 3.42 gears back!!!

Order with Max Tow option and 3:42 gears are standard with that package

My understanding is that the 6.2 was on such tight constraints to support the launch of the 2016 Camaro, it's launched now, so it only makes sense to let more trucks in on the engine line.

I think it only comes with 3.23 now regardless?

Finally! Maybe on my next purchase, I will be able to get a 6.2 without breaking the bank. They are far and few between here without a Denali or High Country package.

Max tow 8 speed gets 3.42.

From Sierra section of order guide:

"NHT Max Trailering Package, includes 9.76" rear axle, 8-speed transmission with 3.42 or 6-speed transmission with 3.73, (JL1) trailer brake controller, enhanced cooling radiator, revised shock tuning for increased control, heavier duty rear springs and increased RGAWR"

6.2's with 3.23 have 15000lb GCWR

6.2's with 3.42 have 17700lb GCWR

Took me forever to find my 6.2...most dealers don't even have one.

That isn't correct. If you get the Max Trailering package, you get the 3.42.

I looked high and low and could not come up with one. I didn't need to have it so it was a deal breaker by any means but I would have liked to have one just 'cuz.'

I didnt like either the 3.23 or the 3.42 option but wanted the 6.2, so once I bought the truck took it to a performance axle specialist here in my area (used them on to other occasions) and had 3.73 ratio installed. With what I paid to have this done I would have paid almost double if I had gotten the NHT package.

Hi.

Slightly off topic, but how is the 6.2 reliability.

Looking at replacing my Tundra soon.

Been considering a Sierra 1500 Denali as one of the choices. Daily driver to run errands, but throw the quad in the box occasionally, and towing the boat frequently.

If i do go with a new GMC would like the 6.2 gas.
