GM increasing 6.2L engine production

Hi.

Slightly off topic, but how is the 6.2 reliability.

Looking at replacing my Tundra soon.

Been considering a Sierra 1500 Denali as one of the choices. Daily driver to run errands, but throw the quad in the box occasionally, and towing the boat frequently.

If i do go with a new GMC would like the 6.2 gas.

They can't make enough of them is the only issue they have.

Have a 2013 6.2L although different than the new one. No issues with it at all.

It would be nice if GM would offer the 6.2L engine in the new trucks with the LT trim level like they have in the past.

We should not be forced to pay insane money for the highest trim level to get the 6.2L engine.

I think it would sell great if GM would offer it in the LT models like they have in past model years. If would be difficult for dealerships to keep LT's with the 6.2L engine on the lot, it's the most popular trim level.

I am wanting a nicely optioned truck so that doesn't apply to my situation.

My current position is deciding on which to get.

Leaning towards the GMC, but the Dodge is also a possibility. Never will I have another toyota, this heap of junk I have now has turned me off the brand.

The f150 sadly only offers the 5.0 V8, and i wish they still offered their 6.2 in their trucks.

If you intend to keep your truck while don't get a Dodge. Reliability is not getting any better over there.

Payload numbers for Ram were not there when I test drove one in 2013. Know they mention it on their forums.

Maybe the air bag suspension helped out with their numbers somewhat or they have improved that since then?

But when Fiat(corp owner of Ram) was trying to force a merger with GM last summer would turn me off the brand.

There is something going on internal that they know the rest of us do not.

nope Ford is too busy trying to shove EgoBoost V6s down everyone's throats, to the point where they are willing to tarnish the GT40's reputation.

I will never buy a pickup with a 6 cylinder engine.

They could bolt 20 turbos to it for all I care.

My Dad was an amateur drag racer when I was a child.

The sound of a V8 screaming at full throttle is music to my ears.

I am not your typical lady.

That's exactly what Ford is doing, forcing all of their customers to buy an F150, Mustang, and Raptor with those EcoPoop turbo engines. It's really pathetic because they have the vehicle programmed to actually play V8 engine noise through the stereo speakers. Ford has already lost customers over this. A few officers I work with (4) who were die hard F150 guys refused to buy their beloved F150 because of the forced engine options. They jumped ship and ended up with Tundras, a Silverado, and a Sierra only because they were allowed to get the V8 engine they wanted.

It may not yet show, but Ford's sales numbers will be dropping by forcing the customer to settle for those engines. People will be going to a different brand, I have witnessed that first hand. It's a sad time when an American manufacturer no longer wants to build and offer a good North American V8 engine.

Ford's not forcing anyone. People have the ability to decide if they want what Ford is offering or not.

I would seriously consider any OEM offering a 6 cylinder gasser...... inline. Just me, but I was always more fond of inline engines than V engines, gas or diesel. Just about any inline 6 gasser had better low end torque than comparable V engines. But after getting burned on a couple of Cummins ISX motors, I could never buy their Cummins inline in the Dodge.

Maybe GM finally figured out why they can't top Ford F-150 sales and Ram is nipping at their heels on sales? Every other full size truck you can order a V8 that out powers the 5.3 in lower spec configurations than GM... I'm a GM fan, but sick of the bullshit you have to buy a top of the line spec for the 6.2. IMHO GM should or could produce a stronger 5.3 than the wimpy 355 hp it produces

Do you really think they care?

Considering most folks never need the 355 HP from the 5.3L or whatever crap that Ford and Dodge and Crapota puts out in their V8s, I don't think it's that big of a deal. A lot of people are still pissed at the Government Motors mistakes made years ago. Not something people forget or forgive easily.
