Little annoying things about your truck

So I've had my 2016 Silverado 1500 5.3 for about a month now.

 

1. The random pop in the dash. It still catches me off guard and has me thinking a rock hit the windshield every time I hear it lol.

 

2. I've had keys with a build-in fob before. I've had fobs with a built-in key before. This is the first time I've had a separate key and fob... not really understanding the logic there.

 

3. The microscopic blind spot mirror built into the driver's side mirror.

 

4. The fact that the rear park assist indicator on the center stack is on by default, and that the owner's manual lies when it says it can be disabled via the infotainment settings. Honestly, I don't mind that the feature is on by default.. just that the indicator is on by default. I'd much rather the indicator being on if the feature is turned off.

 

5. V4 mode. I could be wrong, here, but I'm blaming the V4 mode on many of the transmission idiosyncrasies I've noticed. I'm fairly light-footed when I drive, so I guess this has the truck wanting to use V4 mode more... but it seems like sometimes I really have to push through it to get the truck to respond, so it gives the impression sometimes that there's a delayed throttle response. It also causes an occasional heavy shift if I'm at just the right speed when trying to push it out of V4 and into V8 mode. I had thought things weren't quite right for the first few weeks I had it, but now that I have the GM Borla exhaust and Cold Air Intake installed (truck now sounds amazing, btw!!), it's much more apparent, as the odd behavior corresponds with the odd helicopter-ish sound that is associated with the V4 Mode when a louder exhaust system is installed. So, I ordered the Range AFM disabler (which should be here tomorrow) and will see how things work when it's forced to stay in V8 mode.

 

Regardless, I love this truck!

Electric power steering quit at 1,400 miles, they replaced the electric motor. This truck is near impossible to steer without power. I think because you are fighting the dead motor. The inside door handles seem real cheap to me.

The fact that the AC light comes on every morning I start the car. I should be able to decide if I want that light on.

Here's one of my larger annoyances - the quality of the backup camera display. I really wish there was an adjustment to the auto-dimming of the dash to prevent this kind of stuff:

I get that Pop Too !!

 

I usually drive around in the manual mode and leave it 4 . It never goes into V4 mode . I get real good fuel mileage too , i see an average of 18 driving around like I do

I have the 4.3L and whenever I start my car, every time it misses a shift from I think from either 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd. Every time. After that, it shifts like a champ. Idk what it is. I have 5000 miles on the truck. The only thing I thought it might be doing it from is using e85. But after the initial shift when first started, it runs great.

You can scroll through the presets if you swipe your finger to the right or left.

2015 HD Silverado

Loud pop in dash, (sounds like a empty plastic water bottle being played with) that's what I tell my passengers they are hearing. lol

Factory tow mirrors don't extend far enough out pulling a 33' TT.

No remote tailgate locking/unlocking.

Crappy headlights.

Did I say crappy headlights?

Crappy factory speakers.

All in all though it's been a fantastic truck.

My only complaint is the inability to dim the backup camera screen. WAY too bright at night.

 

And the park assist beeps are too loud. I'm not hard of hearing, but I will be before too long!

What does the service department say about this? I haven't noticed this behavior with my truck but my wife's Toyota shifts strangely until it warms up! Maybe your truck needs a "re-learn".

TBH, I haven't been back to the dealer with it yet...

There's a stupid vibration that comes from the overhead console. I hear it coming from the map light actually and when I put my finger on it or press that portion of the plastic up, it goes away for a little bit. Extremely annoying that I never noticed when I first drove it.

Same on all years.... the location of the hazard lights. If you are swerving to miss something and want to alert other driver you have to put your hand through the steering wheel. Horribly dangerous

You could just reach around the wheel. OR go over the top, that's what I do.
