Just for your and others info go to the 2015 Cadillac Escalade cite you'll find that they have LED lighting and sensors that know the vehicle is turning and lights the side for better illumination. Seems like an owner of a $72000 Cadillac deserves to have better lighting than us truck drivers. To me GM's recognized the poor lighting we have to deal with, again my opinion.

I'll chime back in here. Due to remodeling my house all year I just haven't made it out to the country at night. we live in a small suburb of a small city. I have missed 3 driveways in town and almost tagged a deer standing on the shoulder of the road that neither myself or my wife (and the deer was on her side) saw.

 

Well we finally made it to the country to attend a friends church event and let me tell you....this thing isn't safe to drive. it was slightly misty and we both noticed the directions of the beams. I pulled into a business on a country road...after almost missing the driveway...and found that BOTH lights are toed in and up! 100 yards away this piece of shit on high beams light up the TOP of trees!

 

I suppose if you are a coon hunter this is a wonderful thing!

 

There is very little light on the road and very little light to the sides. as we are driving down these country roads with the brights on you the tree canopy ahead glowed nicely while the road was very dim.

 

if GM can't fix this, this thing is gone and I'll have a Ford in my driveway ASAP.

For headlights? Instead of buying a new bulb you would rather buy a whole new truck? You even said it yourself the aim is off, have you tried, oh I don't know adjusting them? Didn't sound like it in your post. Instead of implementing a minor free or cheap fix you would rather just complain and do something drastic lie take a financial hit and sell your truck?

 

People these days are so entitled and spoiled. Oh my truck doesn't have LED taillights I refuse to buy, no homelink no sale

are you a moron? I'm not hacking up a bulb or headlight system on a warrantied vehicle. I have had to many issues with this piece of shit. adjusting? Sure I can adjust them...but I'm going to let the dealer do it 2 hours...they're already told me over the phone it will do no good. I don't give a **** about LED, HID, I just want GM to make these mother ****ers work. Entiled to correctly working headlights after paying $50k your god damn right!

 

With GM engineers in the family and GM engineers as friends...I go the dealership route because that's how things get fixed for everybody! I personally know of 3 GM engineers that work at the tech center with new Sierras with less miles than mine I have 5,800 that are more pissed about their headlights and their gas mileage than I am!

My wife went to a Sierra after all the issues we had with ford.......but Ford's headlights are way better.....

But I still rather have a headlight issue I can fix than all the other crap on the Ford that I could not.....and neither could they.

There is NO practical way possible to fix the high beam aiming problem with the stock Sierra projectors. And yes, as I've said many times before, they point to the sky. And if/when you put in HID bulbs so you can see something on low beam, you will then notice really how bad they are.

They only practical way to temporary fix these (IMO), and it is a compromise at best, is to install HID bulbs.

I am still patiently waiting for the aftermarket to sell complete lens swaps, nothing so far.

I've even PM'd FastWS6TA, to get his complete units, but I haven't heard from him.

 

Please complain to your dealer. It is likely the only way that we can get these fixed, but may never happen.

My dealer said he's had many complaints and has talked to GM about it. He said GM was going to call me, but hasn't so far.

I also agree , on my 2014 SLT , the light beam is awful ....

There are stuff GM really chepaed out on on the 2014 + .

Still scratching my head over my new 2014 SLT not having vents in the back ..SMH!

But then again if you dont expect much from GM , you wont be let down,

you truck doesnt have actual adjustable vents in the back right? There are vents under the seats I found that it is just tied into your front tempature controls. I pushed the seats all the way forward during cleaning and there are vented tubes under the seat. I was just wondering if that is what you ment by no vents...

didnt mean to get off topic. I hate my headlights as well. I got a lift level put on and my lights sat perfect and i could see perfect. I added big a$$ tires and my lights were now brights and my high beam was looking for squirrels at night. It was bad had big rigs flashing me that my lights were to bright. I took it into the dealer had them adjusted down. Now im looking for night crawlers in the dirt. WTF I guess I will just add more lights or something. lol

That is what I experienced until I raised the headlight screw 1 full turn. I can now see at least a couple hundred yards ahead without it blinding oncoming cars. I run with my fog lights on to see to the corners close to me. Only problem I have is when I encounter an uphill section and I cant see past the shutter line.

Calling GM will be a complete waste of your time. I've called, PMd these "HEAD BOBBERS", they can't do anything but feed you a line of crap about how they meet government safety standards. They succeed if they get you to hangup thre phone. it's obvious that staying in GM channels won't get the lights improved or fixed need to elevate complaints to an outside agency.

where is the screw located for the adjustment?

 

 

Open your hood. Look for a hole in the cover above each headlight. You will see a whitish plastic screw down in there. Take a Phillips screwdriver and you can adjust up and down. Clockwise aims beams lower, counter clockwise aims beams higher.

 

Just don't expect any miracles, but I turned mine counter clockwise one full turn. I can at least see the shoulder of the road now and part of the ditch on dims, if I also have my fogs on.
