Investigation needed in GM Truck MPG

Sorry, but I don't have a 16 year old son. He is 26 and lives 5 hours away. Don't have any "drivers" living at home. Why waste bandwidth on such as juvenile post?

Sigh well I think I understand why you have no other drivers in your household and your kid got way far away from you, no one can stand to be around your grumpy butt LMFAO

I use ACar for my gas mileage tracking on my Double Cab 5.3. Not sure of the gearing but it is a two wheel drive. According to ACar over the last 22,131 miles I have averaged 23.475MPG. My max is 24.854 MPG and the minimum is 21.208 MPG. I am pretty happy with that!!

I have a 2016 sierra crew cab 5.3, 3.42gears, 8 spd trans and 3mpg less than i did in my 2014 sierra double cab, 5.3, 3.42geara, 6 spd trans. I would figure with two extra gears my mpg would go up not down. Even GM states the 8spd mpg is less than the 6spd. Smh.

I had a 2014 Double cab 4x4 with 20 inch wheels 3:42 6spd. Traded it for a 2016 Double Cab 4x4 with 22 inch wheels 3:42 6Spd and the 2016 get 2mpg better than the 14 did. I would have thought the 22's would have made it worse but maybe they are lighter not sure.

This could just be the difference in the engines right down to how they were casted???.

It really depends on the driver. My 4.3 can average 24 mpg if I baby it, or 19 if I horse around too much on my commute.

I too have the 4.3 in my 16 and I hit 24 mobs straight highway from NJ to Lancaster PA. Even on the way home, I got 23 with the bed packed full of stuff, the tonneau cover does help.

Just curious, I noticed in your picture bottom right it say V4. Does that change in real time when it activates the AFM? Meaning does it show V8 then show V4 when your cruising steadily.

Nice, these ecotec 4.3s are real fuel sippers. If I straight up just cruise at 55mph on flat ground (which is everywhere in Florida), I can hit 28 mpg. Of course I do have the lightest configuration available (single cab , short bed, 2wd, 3.23 gearing).

Pretty good I have the CC 5'8" bed with the soft cover.

My 6.2L with 8 speed is averaging 16mpg combined for 20k miles.

I've seen a high of 22mpg on long highway trip.

Pulling a trailer I'm getting 10mpg or less.

Overall its slightly better than the Ecoboost it replaced but I'm burning nothing but premium so in the end it's costing more.

It's a truck....and Ive never bothered worrying much about a mpg or two.

I cant complain about my mpgs. I routinely get 23 on the hwy going between The Springs and Denver and around town 16-18. Thats better than the Toyota Tacoma 4.0L it replaced. I dont think there needs to be a massive Investigation that the OP is calling for. As they say YMMV.
