So I picked up a new 2016 Silverado CC LTZ Z71 on Thursday. Traded in my 2014 Ram 2500 with the diesel. I fully disclosed it was in a minor fender bender and even showed them pictures. It seemed like it was no big deal to them. I did my part and disclosed any damage that was done to the truck. The dealer is supposed to do the same! After I get the truck home I spent most of my time on the inside going over everything and getting all my setting how I like them. On Friday night I went to a friends house to show him the truck and he points out that there are dents on the roof. I look and sure enough there are several dents on both side of the 3rd brake light!! I can't believe I didn't notice this!! I can't tell if its hail or it got damaged some other way. There is no way the dealer didn't know about it.

Saturday is going to be an interesting day. I don't know how im going to handle this but im pretty pissed off right now.

That sucks but you learned a lesson. Never trust a car salesman or a dealership and make sure to go over your very expensive purchase with a fine tooth comb.

NO such thing as a totally honest dealer IMO. Money, always about money.

The person who detailed this truck before you picked it up knew about the dents, somebody knew IMO.

Good Luck :happysad:

You did your pre-delivery walk around and did not catch it. What makes you think the dealer caught it? All they do is have a porter run it through the automatic card wash and blower. They might hit th water spots with a towel. The damage is not on a main panel that they would hit with a towel. Good luck but you accepted the vehicle as is with your signature on the forms. If they don't fix it, PDR and move on with life.

Have fun, I had the same problem with my truck I bought a few weeks ago. Except I noticed a few small but very deep scratches. As part of the deal they agreed to "fix" the scratches. i was stupid enough to assume they would do a good job. A few buffed out but the major ones which were down to the metal they simply painted over.. What a joke. It looks even worse now because they did a terrible half assed job. Now I'm settling for a check for 200$ when I've been quoted 500 to fix all the scratches on the rear driver side panel

I had a much worse issue when I got mine. In the bright sun you couldn't see any hail dents but once I got it home and in the garage there were dozens of dents. Took it back to the dealer and they called in dent busters, gave me a loaner and got my truck back washed and full tank of gas.

Could also be transit damage. Back when I was at the dealer I saw some cars damaged pretty spectacularly from something going wrong in transit.

I agree that it should have been caught, but the dealer I got my truck from actually hand washes and details sold vehicles. They have a drive thru bay just for details and have people where that's all they do. I got mine late in the day after the detail people were off so they had me come back a couple days later to get it done.

They had me stop by today. Of course they can't explain it. They will be doing the same thing though. Going in on thursday to have the dent removal guy take care of it, set me up with a loaner and top off the gas.

It could have been vandalism that occurred without the dealers knowledge. I know several years ago the local Chevy dealer had a bunch of cars vandalized like that, dents all over them. They caught the kids who did it and they did it to a whole bunch of cars in the neighbor as well as new cars on the Chevy dealers lot. Beating on them with fists, waking on them, kicking the sides. All just for fun.

The dealer might be totally innocent.

I had a similar experience at a local ford dealership in the 90s when I used to drive ford trucks and my wife ford cars. We took her car in for recall work and the car got damage under the front causing the ac to lose freon. It was a slow leak that didn't show up till the drive home. Even after we walk around the building where the had speed bumps to slow cars down with marks in the asphalt they said it was our problem. It was clear the damage was a hard bottom out on the car and the coolers were low hanging it was our problem. So I said fine fix it with jb weld. I stopped the new T-bird order for the wife. So in stead of buying Fords every two years I went across the freeway and bought GMC and Hyundais. Much to my delight my old Ford salesman has worked there all this time, I know that because I show him all the cars and trucks other than Fords I bought across the street. I also became the truck buyer for our small family business, and it hasn't been Fords. All for the price of a little JB weld and customer satisfaction.

I had similar dents on my roof. I found them when I looked at the roof during delivery. Mine were more in the middle, so not noticeable unless you climbed up there. Judging by the dealers lot, I believe it was from acorns. I took it to a private body shop guy I know, said there is almost nothing you can do on that roof panel, said you will spend all day chasing the dents. Might be a different story though with your location.

good luck, but I wouldn't be so sure the dealer knew about it
