Longest lasting?

So today at work, I heard on the radio that Dodge is the longest lasting pickup now? I have heard this commercial a couple of times now. Has any one else heard this on the radio? I remember when the Chevy commercial always said " Chevy Silverado the longest lasting most dependable trucks on the road"

Saw this ad the other day, from the disclaimer they put:

Based on IHS Automotive VIO registration data for all brands of GVW 1-3 pickup trucks continuously sold in the US since 1988. Dodge and Ram have the highest overall percentage still on the road.

They all claim this and get away with it by cherry picking data. The claim in meaningless really.

I haul campers commercial with my trucks. Talk to the die hard Dodge guys. The 5.9 Cummins is the longest produced, easiest engine to rebuild.

This is true....................with the 5.9's anyway!!!

Had a '99 and an'04.5 Dodge/Cummins. Put well over 600,000 miles on between them. Great combo IMHO. Would've loved another; but couldn't justify spending $60,000+ for a vehicle. And I didn't want to deal with all the DEF and other diesel exhaust issues caused by the EPA.

We put 400K on a 91 3/4 ton with a Cummings. Drive line was perfect. We repainted, fixed broken dash, bad wiring, new seat. Had some GMs we just drove same with Fords, I guess they all last just depends what you put up with.

No such truck as a '91 3/4 ton Cummings. :M16:

I figured most people would know it was a Dodge, let me reframe everyone.

The longest lasting truck is the one you maintain the best given its not a lemon of course.

Don't matter on the brand .. its the owner that counts. If you do nothing and slack on routine maintenance every brand will start to fall apart.

The Cummins was a good engine in a terrible wrapper.

Depended on the version of the wrapper...

Yup same here, while Ford outsells Chevy in all segments of trucks, in the end it's always the Chevy's that keep going and going and going.

That is an area thing, every area has a mass of certain vehicles...I worked around the country, saw that quite a bit. I think it has to do with the local dealers, if you have more GM dealers, you have more GM products.

Yep, Dodge/Rams are the longest lasting trucks I've seen. There are plenty sitting on blocks in driveways and backyards all over the place ;-)
