Transmission problem

I have an 08 silverado that has about 270,xxx miles on it. It has been having transmission problems when trying to shift from park to drive or reverse. I have to go back and forth between park and drive or reverse several times for it to finally shift.once it goes into gear it runs fine and doesn't have any issues. I changed the transmission filter and fluid and no change. Any ideas if it could just be a sensor or is the transmission bad.

if youre saying that its not engaging the gear every time but runs normal other wise id look at the shifter cable or something simple.

4 speed or 6? that was a changeover year, need some specifics

With that kind of millage, it could be something simple, or the tranny has given up the ghost. I'd suggest finding a good independent transmission shop and let them look it over.
