Wondering if the 2015 sends code if running while pumping fuel

It triggered the CEL because the cap was removed and it has something to do with the vacuum inside the gas tank. New truck will probably do it too

I gas my 2016 up while it's running every single time I hit the station. . For me it's just habit, never even thought about it throwing a code till I read this post. I Have never had a problem.

It depends on if the truck happens to be running a test at the time you gas up.

I've never, ever left a vehicle running while buying gas. Even in the coldest of cold gassing up only takes a few minutes. No one is going to freeze in that time.

I am just to opposite of Mike, I almost never turn the engine off to refuel. Never had a CEL come on from it either. I can honestly say that it would be well in excess of 1 million miles worth of experience in the past 15 years.

Down here in Florida, we wont freeze if the engine is off, but you sure will roast from the heat.

Wouldn't take much 'code' to not set the CEL when it determines that the tank is/has just been filled.

(maybe I'll try it...)

How about ya'll just stop being pansy's (i'm cold, i'm hot) and just shut it off to not waste fuel, not doing something illegal in some states and create a little more safe environment by having a little less a chance of something happening. Shesh, bunch of pre-madonna's...

Hey, they probably have a cigraette and talk on their cell phone too while filling up. :)

Agree pansies.

May set at the pump after fueling and talk on their phone like they do here while people wait to fuel up. :happysad:

Doesn't everyone??

And maybe toss a firecracker once in a while??

The times I've kept my truck running while pumping fuel, I have had no issues with the CEL coming on. Just FYI. I am a mechanic and I can tell you on some vehicles, the EVAP system is VERY sensitive. But in my experience with my 2014 Silverado, I have not had an issue.

Ok I'm a panzy because I leave mine running whilst re-fueling. I'm not concerned about wasting a teaspoon of gas plus I like the idea of leaving more of a carbon foot print...if it pisses off the greenie boppers that's a good thing.

Jeeesh :tear:

"Turn off Ignition" is clearly posted at our local gas bars. I assumed this was for safety reasons. At the very least, turning off your engine will be a courtesy to the person filling up next to you!
