Headache rack or hell no

A week or so ago I was trail riding. Realized how bad I needed light to the side and rear and 45 degrees in between.

So I put on the go rhino headache rack for 4 rectangle leds. So far the response has been BAD.

I liked the look....am I wrong? Is it ghey, trying too hard, or Mexican looking? Those were the first 3 comments.

2.5 level, go rhino front and rear bumper, putco boss grill, spider head and tail, wheel and tire, fenders, hood, intake, exhaust, programming, audio upgrade going on 14 Silverado 1500 Garnet color.

If you want an opinion, a pic would be most helpful. Kinda hard to pass judgement without taking in the whole setup.

Everyone has an opinion, the only one that matters about how your truck looks is your opinion.

A lot of the trucks on this forum aren't my cup of tea, but the owner likes what they've done and that's all that matters.

Is it your truck?

You own/pay for it?

Do you like it?

If yes to the above, why care what other people think? They can get their own truck and set it up however they like.

That is about the size of it. We each have our own unique needs and tastes in things.

My opinion is that if you have used it as a truck, you would recognize the value to a headache rack. All you have to do is replace a rear window once! Around here in rural country with all the loggers etc. they are common and pretty mall queens are laughed at.

Jad if the rack serves it purpose who cares what others think. Daily I see plenty of trucks I don't like but hey different strokes for different folks. Do your own thing is what I'm saying.

Good advice. I need lights to to the side and rear when going Offroad in central FL. There are a couple ways to accomplish that. I liked the old school rack look. I was surprised at the reactions of friends.

I'll post some pics and take a poll. I'm vascilating on it. Opinions of seasoned truck guys will help in this decisioN.

I have one.

The main purpose of mine was to add visibility (LED stop/turn/tails up high), second was to protect the rear window from the errant piece of firewood tossed in the back. I've found the rack extremely useful for long stuff, which isn't but a once or twice a year thing; but it sure beats the alternatives.

I doubt I will ever own another truck without a headache rack...

This is the GM TRUCK forum. Kudos to you for actually using yours as a TRUCK.

I'd love to see some pictures of your truck and others with the headache rack. I'm trying to find one I like that I can use with a single lid tool box.

Thinking about getting one of these Black Horse Bed Bars at http://www.autoanything.com/hitch-bed-accessories/77A13033A4464855.aspx

and doing some major mods to it so I can add side and rear lighting.

I personally wouldn't consider a backrack for looks, but they are an actual beneficial mod as it is a great way to mount lights, sirens, etc without having to drill into the body of the truck. when I used my truck for putting tools/ladders in the bed it was very nice to have backrack to throw a ladder down on it and not worry about blowing out your 3rd brake light

I constantly carry 6/8/10ft ladders with my truck. I had the backrack for 2yrs before I went and added the TracRac. My only complaint with just the backrack was that to deal with cargo, I had to remove the ladder(s). Now, with the TracRac/Backrack combo, I never have to take my ladders down. The TracRac also doubles as my fishing rod holder for surfcasting, I have a 12road holder in the bed for when I take the boat rods out.

-- I cut down my TracRac almost 3.5" to match roof line and be just about level with my Backrack. I also added in amber running and signal lights to my backrack.
