DIY bed organization / pic request

Show me how you organized your bed (not at home haha)

I have a tonneau cover on now and about to take a 4 hour trip. Packing the bed with toddler stuff (pack and play, stroller, chairs, bags, coolers… ect.)

We are headed to and through the mountains so the roads are bumpy and lots of turns. I thought about strapping everything down, but has anyone done anything different to hold everything together?

 

I know my father in-law has a ford and he put 2x6 pieces of wood in and sections the bed out. Our beds have to slots (one in front and one behind the wheel well where I could do this. see picture

 

btw i have a 15 1500 denali if that matters

Costco or HomeD containers. Get the ones with a full, one piece lid. The split 2 piece lids will leak water in on your stuff if they get wet.

I use a boot tray from Home Depot to keep items off the bed floor and dry. In that sits a wide milk crate filled with tools and items I don't keep under the seat. A strap across the back rings keeps any items I place from sliding around

I use a variety of Rubbermaid containers and plastic milk crates and pack like I play Tetris! I use bungee straps to secure free floating items.

Cargo jack....pressure fit, easily positioned, secured and removed at any height or location within the bed......lever action operates just like a carpenter's clamp or caulking gun.....one or more keeps any shaped object securely in the bed.

I guess work has it locked on these computers. I see it on my phone. Thank you guys. Will hopefully have something done tomorrow to show. Interested to see what else people have been using.

By the time you buy the wood, stainless steel fasteners, locking, securing & release mechanism hardware, split hinges for removal, priming and painting to make them waterproof, etc. your over half the cost of the plastic ones. And they are non porous, waterproof & watertight and so I use one for rock salt storage in the Winter which doubles as a removable ice chest in the Summer.

with a retrax, i wouldn't necessarily worry about the waterproofing, etc.

 

But I hear what you're saying. It's a shame that materials are so expensive these days.

I just toss it all in... if there is something big or loose I use my gladiator net to keep it more secure.
