Waze is now available on AA!!!!

Both...... If you have Projection on you head unit for Android Auto, and you already have both Waze and Android Auto on you phone, all you need to do is plug your phone via USB and launch AA on the head unit, double tap the navigation icon, and you get a choice of Waze or Google maps...

Android Auto (or Apple Carplay) only available in 2016 and new GM trucks. Must use USB cord between phone and truck - no bluetooth. For Android users only, we have the option of Google Maps or Waze. Apple users cannot use Waze thru Apple Carplay.

Maybe a stupid question but does Waze need to already be installed on the phone or does AA now include it? I supposedly have the most up to date AA version but don't have Waze installed on my phone and it doesn't come up as a choice under maps.

Yes, you have to install Waze on your phone, then it will show up as the other nav option when you double tap the map symbol.

Now, if you're feeling adventurous, jailbreak your iPhone and you can start using lots of others apps along with Waze and Google maps on car play.. I like the simplicity of iPhone, but I like messing with my phone, so been sticking to android.

 

Not saying to do it, but lots of YouTube vids on doing that for Car Play...

Yah, I couldn't really tell you then, as I don't keep up with iPhone JB. I just saw a video dated around May of this year on YouTube of some guy showing how to do the car play, so figured it was still possible. But you said it's been over a year, that sucks then I guess.

Well first Intelllilink/AA experience with Waze was a no go. The app loaded and allowed me to search, enter a route, etc, but it would not update the current position of the vehicle. It just stayed stuck wherever I started the app. The app worked fine on the phone when not connected to Intellilink. Rebooted the phone, restarted AA, unplugged, etc.....nothing. Any ideas of what might be going on?

Why cant GM just add this to their app store? I dont really understand why they have an app store with almost nothing in it. The weather app is the only decent thing there is.
