This is the current bodystyle. You can go buy one right now if you want.

Well I'll be. The article I read showed this photo for the 2019 Gen 5. Grill threw me off. Oh well. It's will be dead and buried before Pepper get worn out. Laughs on me then.

I'll start by saying I have ZERO brand loyalty when it comes to trucks. I think ALL of today's truck are about the same in build quality and reliability. Ram has come a long way from what I've been reading. I see a ton of them on the road. Their numbers are climbing. I really dig the new 2019 style. I test drove a 2017 and really liked it, the interior was beautiful and the 9 speaker Alpine audio system was spectacular compared to my Bose system. The dealer was a dick and we couldn't strike a deal, so I ended up with the Chevy, which I'm very happy with.

I started to respond to your earlier comment but decided you were just  having a seniors'  moment. (I know how bad they can get)  The idea of you trading Pepper for a RAM  made me question my own belief system! ;-)

With 2019 MY,  RAM is now the undisputed leader when it comes to interior/materials/screen and overall A+ on their interior.  Ford comes in close second, and Gm is always last when it comes to interior. Its just how its always been . Biggest grip about new GM trucks is how they didnt spend enough time with the interior.  Looks on the outside are always subjective so to each his own.

Power train was a little disappointing given they dint do anything but add the E-Torque

We still have yet to see this E-Torque in action , so it remains to be seen. Same with GM here. would have been nice to get a 15-20 HP/TQ bump on all models.

Either way the new RAM is a home run in my book, I'm not a huge fan of them but you cant deny them their due. It just seems like RAM and Ford pay a little more attention to detail when it comes to the little things.

Hey I love my GM truck ( my 4th one now) like anyone here but i'm also not a blind nut hugging brand loyal guy. Props is due to RAM

I personally really like the 2019 Rams like other have said. Exterior styling (has to be the painted grill instead for me personally) is incredible and no one can deny the interior styling. I was considering over the winter whether or not to upgrade my current 15 Silverado (until I got my summer wheels back on and am in love again) and was seriously considering the 19 rams. I grew up with a father that worked at Chrysler/Dodge dealers for more than 25 years so I guess its branded in me a little. I tell everyone I know, I work at chev so I drive a chev, if I worked at dodge then I would drive a dodge, and if I worked at ford... well.. i'd drive a dodge...

They look good to me and I think quality has come a long way since the Italians took over (Fiat).  I also have a 2012 Jeep GC and that thing has been problem free for the last 6 years, drove it across the country twice now.  Can't say the same thing for my 2014 silverado.

I work 2 miles down the road from a Ram/Jeep dealer.

They have 4 2019 RAM trucks on the lot and they have all been there for over 3 weeks now. Not a single one sold.

Pricing? perhaps...... all of them are $58,000 and up.

There is a price to be paid for this A+ interior.

Or could it be that gas is going up and the old days of truck and Suv sales dipping is right around the corner.

Gas here in the KC area is an average 2.84 per gallon.

Two weeks ago it was averaging about 2.29 a gallon.

2019 truck sales are going to suffer.

I am really diggin the Rams honestly. The exterior is simple yet elegant, although not as attractive as the Sierra in my honest opinion. The interior however, blows the Sierra out of the water. It’s what the Denali should have been right from the jump. If I’m being truly honest, the only thing stopping me from jumping ship is the fact that ram doesn’t offer anything larger than the 5.7. I have a 6.2 and really wouldn’t want to trade down, power wise. Although from what I hear the 5.7 with 3.92 gears gives the 6.2 a run for its money. Oh yeah I also hate the knob shifter. I want my column shifter but most are moving away from that unfortunately. Only a matter of time before gmc innovates the shifter into another location. I also especially like the extended/life warranty that ram offers. If you plan on keeping the truck for a long time, which I would, I’d love to have a warranty that lasts the life of the truck just in case there are issues like some claim. Most newer trucks have been reported to be problem free unlike the older ones. The sierras have always been reliable but this 2014 has had a few more hiccups than usual along the way. With a 2019 Sierra its feeling of the content. The  2019 ram feels a bit more exciting.

You can get the 6.2 Hemi in the Rebel TRX it’s going to be their version of a Raptor. 575hp with side pipes... while it looks like something a 8 year old boy pushes around the sand box and says TONKA on it, I wouldn’t  be surprised to see that motor show up in another special ed truck for 2020 since it seems like speds are all the rage at Dodge right now.

Whats the deal with warranties? All I found on them is 3/36 & 5/60 in the 1500s anyway.

Yeah I saw that back when it got announced but it’s wishful thinking right now. It’s just a concept and even if it became a reality it’s not going to happen for this years model. GM also made a Supercharged 5.3 concept a few years ago but was never heard from again. Why they chose the 5.3 is beyond me.

As as far as the warranties, I dug these two up.

Also I’ve seen pictures and other members speaking if there lifetime warranties through ram on the ram rebel and 5th gen ram forums and most seem pleased.

I had a 09 Ram before i bought my 16 Sierra. I liked it and there were some things I missed about it, namely ride and driving qualities. It had the 5.7 w/ 3.92 and it was much faster than my current 5.3 w/ 3.42, not that I use my truck for racing. Gas mileage was about the same

I apparently am in the minority here. I do not like the front design at all. It feels like they are trying to work a cars headlight/fog combo onto a truck. It puts me off very much.

However, the interior is very nice and looks promising with the huge touchscreen.

Personally I have been put off by Ram's quality even as of late. I have a lot of friends and family and it seems that there are a lot of issues still lurking in the shadows in their QC department. I hope I'm wrong. I've really come around to liking Ford's recent offerings (minus the tall exterior design of the HD 250s/350s) and even Toyota's recent TRD Pro examples. I hope that they can fix their apparent QC problems and really become a big 3 contender for me.

It is not what the Denali should have been, trucks don't need a car interior in them. It looks like a midsize sedan/Tesla concoction on the interior of the Ram, pretty but less useful for truck owners.

The 5.7/3.92 is quite a bit slower than the 6.2 as well as slower than the 5.3; it is a heavy truck compared to Ford/GM.

Not sure what the gear dial has to do with anything, you turn it three times when you drive and that is it (P to R, R to D, D to P). It is an automatic, you don't shift so it shouldn't matter. Give me a column, buttons or a dial, just keep the console shifter to cars that need to do some manual shifting. Anything to keep to the space free, I won't touch it once it is in drive so how it goes in to gear is irrelevant...

Um, no it isn't unless you modded it, it is actually slower like I mentioned a while ago. Many publications showing the 5.3 out performing the 5.7 and the 6.2 just eats its lunch... It is all in the sound, but you know what they say about all bark and no bite right?

Not to mention it was quite a bit behind in mpg when unloaded, nearly 6 mpg in this test... Though I will say that is quite a spread, I would imagine and see a few mpg different in real world.

Between that and the regular FCA quality concerns I would pass on the lipstick on a pig Ram. I would get a Nissan or Tundra before it personally. They offer so many gimmicks and features for a cheaper price you know it is being taken out from somewhere else on the truck to be able to do that...

With the exception of the 6.2 being obviously quicker and more powerful than the 5.7 the other two points are completely subjective. As I’ve stated previously, your taste doesn’t equate to mine and I could care less if you don’t “believe” that interior belongs in a truck. The fact is luxury trucks are a huge market for 1500 sales and most demand that level of luxury when they’re in that specific market. If it wasn’t the case their wouldn’t be offerings. Is it based solely on fancy gizmos? No but that’s the point of “luxury”. That’s what I like and that’s what I want, if you don’t then stick to a w/t or mid trim. There’s plenty of those around to suit your needs. There’s truly no incentive to an unbiased customer deciding between SLT and Denali to pick the Denali. To say a Denali isn’t a glorified loaded SLT is bull. There’s three Denali’s sitting right in front of me and I can’t think of a single reason they’re marketed as the higher end and more expensive truck vs the slt I have. Why? Cause the grill and colored bumpers? Or the digital cluster? Please. My truck is just as loaded, has every option, plus a gear ratio I PREFER. Besides the Denali is marketed as the high end luxury truck. You really think a luxury interior that stands out to the others doesn’t belong in there? You’re quite the comedian.

Oh and a 5.7 Hemi will not be “dusted” by a 6.2. I should know I have a 6.2 with bolt ons and tunes and that wasn’t the result from my real experience.

Even seniors have weakness now and again. All is good. :seeya: The urge passed.
