2019 Ram thoughts

I'd like to read fellow GM owners thoughts on the new ram. I have to say, I am digging the new body style. Always been a fan of the ram ride but never cared for the previous model years body. HEMI has always been a strong peppy motor and if they finally figured out a way to get rid of the ole' hemi tick then this 2019 may be a winner. Interior looks nice as well. Love my Chevy but ride/harshness, power, and interior are outdone by new ram in my opinion. Once the kinks are worked out, I may be trading.

They had 12 or so on display at the Canadian International Auto Show in February.  Starting to see them at dealers and on the road.

I like the new look, honestly, more than the 2018 truck.  I'm okay with the crosshairs getting the axe.  Cleans it up for me, yet it still looks like a Ram truck.

Interior was really sharp in the Big Horn and the Rebel I crawled around at the show.  They had every single door opened and unlocked except the one on the rotating display (doors open but obviously you cant get to it).  The one on the display had the blue/white leather interior and I think was a Laramie.  That was a sharp getup.

Not a huge fan, actually think last year's model is more impressive. I think it looks a little too much like a Tundra, which would be nice if there was no Tundra. And I think the interior has a little too much going on, whereas the previous model was pretty damn nice inside.

I haven't seen one is person though...might change my mind when I do.

Unlike most people I actually like the look of the 2019 Silverado...then again haven't seen that in person yet either. Might change my mind there as well.

I actually like the F-150 right now too. Honestly all three trucks are the top three selling vehicles in America right now, with good reason, they're all pretty damn good (and they've all come a long way). Now the Nissan Titan?? I can't stand that thing.

Maybe now I can tell the difference in this 2019 Ram Model than the last 15-20 years?  Never been a fan of the RAM or the quality, efficiency etc.

I like the look of the exterior and interior. I don't feel like I'd put it ahead of the 2018's in my books yet, maybe when I see more of them around. If I was to be looking at trading, I'd be waiting to see what the specs on the new ranger are going to be.

Looks neat but, it has no gear shift lever, hate the rotary knob, the last gen had crappy crash test scores and if that carries over forget it, reliability and quality on Fiat vehicles isn't what it needs to be currently to get my interest,  styling is pretty neat and I would have to drive it to comment on the rest...

I like the look and some of the features that Ram offers but I get my dads employee discount on GM vehicles it’s hard to walk out on the savings it allows me to get a better equipped truck than I could going to another brand.

Local dealer got a Bighorn 4x4 off the hauler weekend before last.  Truck was parked unlocked.  So I had a look around.  For a middle trim package, the interior was gorgeous.  Minus the cloth seats it was nicer than my current Denali in many ways.  Materials seemed a cut above what I'd expect on that trim. Displays, switch gear, door trims panels, etc. I like the look, but every time I consider an FCA product that nagging gut wondering about quality always shows up.   i could probably do an F150 as they have had a few years to figure out their truck, but I believe I'll let the early adopters figure out if FCA can build a quality product before I jump on board.  I'm worried as well about the new GM trucks, lots of changes with lots of potential for early quality gremlins.  I'll be sitting back watching for a while.

This is the current bodystyle. You can go buy one right now if you want.

I saw a recent article that Ram has more repeat buyers. May have something to do reliability and you can get all the driveline combinations across the board.

Personally think the 2019 Ram looks like the upcoming Ford Ranger :

Coincidence or Copy?

I think the '19 GM models look TERRIBLE - even w/ all the dumb issues the '14-18' models seem to have, the blocky exterior design is one of the best ever IMO (all trucks - not just GM) & that was a big draw for me to get one. I am not going to be in the market for a new truck for at least 3 years, & may be going to an HD model, if GM keeps the blocky design on the HD trucks to differentiate them a bit that would be awesome.

Otherwise - I also agree the Ram looks the best outta the 1/2 tons, Ford does nothing for me other than the Raptor their 1/2 ton models all seem to be a "softer" design - almost more feminine (& I don't necessarily mean that offensively) - AND this is what I hate about the new GM design, looks very similar & rounded like the Fords.

I used to sh*t on Dodge/Ram for poor quality - & I think that was well deserved over the last 2.5-3 decades, but Dodge has really been stepping their overall quality level up, & based on my experiences w/ 3 GM trucks (2x2014's & my current 2015) GM has slid back in terms of reliability/quality - I mean "interior cheapness" aside - it's almost hard to believe that the company that produced my 2003 Z06 vette is the same one that manufactured my '15 GMC Sierra....my cammed/bolt-on 450whp 15+ year old sports car is hands down more reliable than my fully loaded "brand new" GM truck. That's a fact.
