Are you talking about the end link for your sway bar?

How in the world did you have a failed sway bar end link on a 2015? That should have taken way longer than that to have it rust out and snap. From past experiences the rubber bushings dry rot before the metal rod and spacers rust out and I live in western new york where we salt the roads to no end.

But yes, the black threaded piece going from your sway bar to the lower control arm is your sway bar end link. When you replace it make sure you have both front tires off the ground. It would be damn near impossible to replace it one side at a time if you have the truck leaning since the sway bar would be loaded down.

Sway bar end link.  Common failure on 2007-current GMT900/K2 trucks and SUVs.  Especially salt states and leveled trucks.

THat's a "feature" for offroad use :D. You can leave it "disconnected" if you want more suspention travel, or replace it and hook it back up to prevent lean. It's not required.

So, if he wants to replace them, what would be your suggestion, factory or aftermarket. Does your lot do any suspension mods?

MOOG has them. They're showing up as 7.99 from Advance Auto Parts.

Any time I have had worn front suspension parts, I get a MOOG replacement. It's top notch.

For $8, get the MOOG.
