What model and trim is it, guessing a crew since your VIN starts with a 3.

The 3 means it as built in Mexico, not the box type

Correct, 14-18 crew cabs were built in Mexico.

Sorry to revive this but trying to find out some info on BTV Rpo code, I got this truck form my dealer used 2016 CC Silverado, it only came with one set of keys, and the key is not even the normal looking one that my older chevys have been looks like maybe a replacement. I have the BTV code so was not sure if I can just get remote start fobs and have them programmed or do I still need to more installed on it?

VIN 3 start assembled/made in Mexico - CK15543 - 43 stands for crew.

Yes sir, and your new truck should start with a 1,  4. or 5 (not likely the last 2) if built in the USA, 2 for Canada. Second digit will be a G, for GM.

Yup my 2018 that is my new rig starts with 1. Made sure of this before buying. Too many start with 3 when i worked at dealer had key fit/working issues when cutting the key from VIN. Hated that.

Honestly, the build quality on my 18 Mexican made crew is just as good as our $75000.00, 16 Tahoe which was built in the USA. Both LTZ, which should not make a difference how they are put together, but maybe?

If your truck did not come with it, you will need everything that comes in this kit, 22997089 Complete Remote Start Kit for 2014 - 2018 Silverado or Sierra 1500 OEM

Is there a write up on here on how to install?

I have a 2015 GMC sierra. I pulled the RPO listing for my vin and it shows this...

BTV

CONTROL REMOTE ENGINE START REMOTE CONTROL ENGINE START(BTV)

So does this mean without a doubt my truck has the ability. I bought the truck used and the keyfob was broken, I bought a replacement with the same 4 buttons, took the guts out of the old keyfob and put it in the new case and the doorlock buttons work, but the remote start button does not(even with hitting lock, then holding the circle for 3 seconds) I guess my question is now, is that button of the remote not working, or is the truck not set up for remote start. My next step is to reprogram a new 4 button remote and see if it will remote start with that remote. My main question is that if the RPO says BTV is there no reason remote start should not work?

Thanks in advance - Joe

I am not an expert but I have the same RPO code on my 2016 and the remote start definitely works. I also have 2 FOBs that came with it when I bought brand new. As long as none of the remote start stuff got removed, you should have that capability.

Just to add, if you have any codes present or a faulty hood latch, the remote start will not work. All codes need to be cleared first. Not sure how to diagnose hood latch though.
