  • I wonder if these lines are actually rubbing on something which is causing them to blow.  Even a small hole would cause the line to rupture completely given the pressure inside....

Anybody have a good picture of them on the truck?

Haha. I was getting ready to post the same thing.   I don’t even know where it is or what it looks like.  Any information on this part. Like. What’s it look like and where to find it?

And like he said. If anybody can get a picture of the line. That’d be awesome!!

I was looking the other day and I'm pretty sure you can see the lines looking from the passenger side front of the engine down.  I would also be interested to know which line is blowing- feed or return and on which side if it is actually the crimp.  I imagine GM is documenting all this.

If the lines are the same as the previous Gens and the supplier is the same, I would think maybe they are rubbing somewhere...

This whole thing has me paranoid as hell.  I really, REALLY feel for the owners that this has happened to.

On star is always on. You just don't have service without a subscription.

They can ping your vehicle at any time.

Look at very first few pics of the thread It’s even circled. Bottom of radiator is where a cooler is located.

They are not rubbing. Both hose are wide open into a cooler. A crimp doesn’t let go due to rubbing. It’s pressure that’s causes they hose to blow out of the crimp. Have seen it lots in heavy machinery that run huge psi in hose but not 40 like these engines do

Does anyone know the range of build dates? Is it all or early like the window?   Wondering if it is widespread or changed already on trucks now.

OK- I wasn't referring to the crimp rubbing but rather the line, but thanks for pointing out the pics.  I wasn't aware the lines were wide open.  I guess it's definitely a crimp problem then.

Hoping they’ll release a TSB on this if they haven’t already. I’m getting paranoid too.

Anybody in tight with a dealer that can -leak- some details???

I feel the same way, I am driving with one eye on oil pressure gauge.

This is CRAP!!!

We are driving to the Grand Canyon and Zion NP this summer, and I have been kinda fighting with the wife to take my new truck instead of her Highlander... Can you imagine being out in the 115* heat dead on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere Arizona with 3 kids age 7 and under because Pedro can't crimp a hose worth a damn?

Not a safety issue?  They can go straight to hell with that BS.

Guess I will go start putting new belts and hoses on the Highlander... it will have close to 100K on it by July.  Dammit!

Was just thinking the same thing about road trips. I'm usually gone for a good three weeks over the summer.

Would it be worthwhile to consider throwing an additional hose clamp over the crimp? Never mind...would most likely void the warranty should anything happen to it.

Just sucks that A) these guys have to contend with this on a new vehicle and B) the rest of us can't be proactive to avoid the crimp failure and have to sit here with our fingers crossed.

Mine hasn't failed, but I keep watching the oil pressure gauge too.  Mine was built 2/16/2019 and I noticed green inspection marks on the oil cooler crimps.  Don't know exactly what that means, but maybe they had an idea of an issue by 2/16.
