15 Silverado LT HID retrofit (Pic heavy)

Recommended Posts

First time for every aspect: my first GM truck, first post on the forum, pretty much first mod on it, etc etc. Anyway, here it goes..

Look at this innocent (boring) looking Silverado!

We got ourselves a Silverado LT, replacing F150 (best decision ever!), and when we were leaving the dealership, i was already thinking about retrofitting this bad boy.. took the plunge, ordered up some goodies from Retrofit source and Gen5DIY..

Found a 2014 Halogen light as a donor on craigslist for $150

Might look good from far, but far from good..

Meantime, order came from TRS;

Baked them for several times for like 5~7 min at 260~270F each just to be enough to loosen the "glue"

I have done headlights on Subaru and Nissan, but never American cars, people were saying what a PITA and they weren't wrong. Just make sure you take your time. Its the best to get a hold of a pair first and swap them out when finished.

Gotta get rid of the orange/amber;

Awesome job!  Any reason you went with the mh1's vs a d2s projector?  Also, the pass side needs lowered.  The low side of the pass side step is lined up with the high side from the drivers pattern.

Thanks! I was simply going by TRS and other retrofitter's "kit" as a guide/reference. No specific reason per se. Would i go D2S next time, knowing the size and everything now? YES.

Oh the beam heights are adjusted, dead on.

I really enjoyed this retrofit!

The pass side should be like this. The left side of the step should align with the other projectors left side of the step.

That color flicker is awesome. I love coming up on cars and seeing the flicker.

The pics in the original post were during/before the adjust. I was way too excited to see the results haha. It's a day and night difference, stock and retrofit. I had my wife drive the truck around, and i was looking/admiring the flicker last night like some weirdo.. Too bad i can't see it myself as i drive.

Are you using a high beam splitter also?

Yes, so its "quad beam"and thats kinda why i "smoked" the high beam reflectors.

From what I have seen, the Morimoto HID bulbs are pretty good.

Agreed, got convinced enough by all the positive feedbacks/reviews.
