I have a G80 that went bye bye last week.  This truck only sees highways and paved roads.  Looking at the prices of a new or even used G80 carrier is ridiculous.  It is possibly to just swap out the G80 carrier and install an open rear end?

Yeah you could or buy an aftermarket locker that is better.

 

Either way it's going to cost you money in new bearings and setting everything back up so it works.
