So I bought a 2020 2500 HD Z71 last night. The only thing is the blind spot mirror seems to high. Do they tilt at all?

Not enough IMHO... would love another 1/2" upwards on driver's side

When I asked what the max was a couple pages ago someone said they believed the max was 85.

If someone was good enough to perhaps set up a new trailer profile to confirm the upper end PSI set point I would greatly appreciate it. It just seems unimaginable that GM would manufacture a pickup that could tow potentially 35K #'s. And limit the trailer tire TPMS to an E rated tire.

I just ordered an LT with the advanced trailering package and a primary reason was the trailer tire monitoring. The tires on my fifth wheel are also 110 PSI. I will be quiet disappointed if they only read to 85 PSI.

Thanks in advance for anyone who would check this out on your current truck

Roadrunner I totally agree. Yet some times GM has let us down. I have a trailer that has 6 tires and they are "G Rated" tires. It runs at 110 PSI. I also understand a lot of ranch show horse / cattle trailers are encouraged to run G rated tires AND rims. You can see my tires / rims rated at 110 PSI. I was planning on a new Denali crew cab with a 8 foot bed and fully loaded. But it appears with the labor dispute and the intentional delayed sloooow  Christmas release. Well since it will be so close to the '21 model I may just wait it out. New interior OR old style. See what price breaks will occur.

i set my ttpms sensors up a few nites back but couldn't remember what the max psi choice was and didn't know if they could be edited with out a new set up. they can be edited once set up and the max psi setting looks like a 100psi. mine are set for 80psi with E-rated tires

i couldnt figure out how to edit - what steps? thanks

first connect the trailer so you can access the app.

pick the"trailers" tab on the top of the screen

push on the pencil next to the connected trailer on the screen.(pic 1)

pick "tire pressure set up" on next screen (pic 2)

pick "next" on the "select number of sensors screen" (pic 3)

pick "next" on "learn sensor screen" (pic 4)

the next screen is where you can edit tire pressures(pic 5)

I am guessing that since your tires are dismounted you upgraded to a more reliable tire before some adverse happened.  Yes the labor dispute has me wondering how long a delivery delay will occur. I placed the order towards the end of August and the dealer said the tentative build date was the middle of October. Allot of variables exist do to the strike. Good luck on our future purchase I agree the interior is a bit dated compared to other manufactures. I can deal with that just hoping it lives up to my expectations performance wise when I hook up to my fifth wheel.

Well it appears as if GM has created a truck capable of hauling best in class payloads but didn't take into account trailers that carry those types of loads have tires that exceed 100 PSI, quite disappointing to say the least. 100 PSI is close to my tire rating of my trailer tires but 10 psi lost pressure on a hot day could be enough to cause a blow-out which is the whole point of the TPMS system. Perhaps with enough customer complaints they might push thru a software update to correct this shortcoming.  Thanks Jack for taking the time to answer our concerns.

Roadrunner, well I have had them on and mounted to my high pressure rim's. They are rated for G tires due to higher pressure. There is so much that GM does not realize on their truck products. I remember on my '16 so much fanfare on the cell phone charger. There is so much distraction trying to make it work. Yet they also have so much fanfare for the new dually trucks and yet to hold back. I have read the 2020 cameras are not available? Really advertise like crazy and non performer!  So I am frustrated on product delays as well as incomplete research and development. Seems like they have little or no idea on product needs.

The optional camera you were inquiring about. The dealerships are way behind the curve in providing information about these new trucks sadly!                                                                                                          https://www.shopchevyparts.com/trailering/2020-silverado-2500-auxiliary-trailer-camera-vehicles-with-trailer-camera-package-uvi/84518122-p-92305265.html

thanks for the link for the new 2020 cameras. i haven't bought any yet,  i have been waiting for some info on the new 2020 model camera . as you mentioned, not much info here locally either from the dealers.

the details and compatibility of the tpms system and the accessory camera system have been a huge grey area and it seems like we all have to learn as we go.

I can't get my trailer TPMS to sync with the truck, the sensors are working and are readable via TPMS readers at tire shops.  Is there a distance limitation on how far your truck can be away to pickup the sensors?  Even my local GMC dealer was puzzled and wanted me to leave the truck and trailer with them, I declined obviously. But may end up being a day down at the dealer to get this resolved.

Are you sure the TPMS modules in the trailer tires use the right frequency that the truck is tuned for?  It's my understanding they can use a number of different frequencies, but GM only listens for 1 or 2.  And no, I don't know the specific frequencies.

    • That makes sense, and I think you are describing the real product problem. Capturing data is the easy part. If the owner or technician has to manually dig through five minutes of millisecond-level logs, the product has already failed. The device would be at the ECM harness, not at the OBD port, so I agree that data retrieval and event marking need to be thought through carefully. The way I am thinking about the architecture is: The recorder itself should not depend on a phone, app, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection to capture the event. It should always keep a local rolling buffer and lock the event locally. A button, phone app, or small cabin device would only act as an event marker. If the driver feels a stumble and presses the button 10–30 seconds later, the pre-buffer has to already contain the useful data. For data retrieval, the practical options would be a sealed service USB lead, Wi-Fi download, or a phone/cabin companion device. I would not expect the owner to remove the ECM-side module or work with raw files directly. The cloud or AI side would be for interpretation, not for capturing the event. The truck may have no connection when the issue happens, so the evidence has to be saved locally first. After that, cloud processing could help decode the data, compare it against baselines, and generate a readable report. For the first version, I would keep the automatic triggers conservative and objective: driver event marker bus-off error passive voltage drop / brownout device reset FIFO or queue overflow a normally periodic message disappearing side-to-side communication mismatch, if the topology supports that For “learning normal,” I agree with your point, but I would not want to overclaim it as automatic root-cause diagnosis at first. A realistic first step would be learned baseline comparison for that specific vehicle and operating condition. For example, a value would only be compared against similar conditions: RPM range load / MAP throttle position gear / vehicle speed coolant and oil temperature battery voltage AFM/DFM state, if decoded and validated Then the report could flag things like: this periodic message disappeared compared with its normal timing this value deviated from this vehicle’s normal range under similar conditions the same abnormal pattern repeated after the same type of event the anomaly occurred together with voltage, oil-pressure, misfire, or communication changes But I would still call that “abnormal pattern detected,” not “replace this part,” unless there is enough validated repair data behind it. So the intended product would not be “here is a huge log.” It would need to be an event package: what triggered the capture how much pre/post data was preserved what changed before and after the event whether the device itself reset, overflowed, or saw a bus error selected graphs around the event raw data only as supporting evidence From your perspective, what would make this kind of report useful instead of just another datalog? For example: What are the top 5 parameters or events you would want highlighted first? Would you trust a learned baseline for that specific vehicle, or would you prefer fixed thresholds? How much false-positive flagging would be acceptable before you stopped looking at the reports? What would a one-page report need to show for an independent shop to take it seriously? For misfire, AFM/DFM, oil pressure, or U-code complaints, what would you want the tool to flag automatically?
