we were suppose to cycle the engine and all that but never did...….never had a problem either

you actually wanted some load to seat the rings I believe?,  was along time ago

Correct, to seat the rings. I still have bikes but it's been a bit since I've been on a track, miss it!

And yes, that's the gist of it, normal driving and oil change haha.

GM thought the first 500 was important enough for the C8 that the redline changes after 500.

If you think an extra maybe 100 RPM heading down the road is going to impair your Duramax, feel free to drive 55.  I am not going to sweat it.

Pick a horse and ride it would ya.

My Question is if you don't follow the break-in procedures and you have to have warranty work done and they flash the truck and see you didn't follow them, could they deny or void your warranty or the work? Just wondering since the 2020's have some newish stuff to them.

Fair question but I don’t think it would ever come down to that. There are too many variables they can’t control, such as test drives or even the handful of miles driven by transport workers.

nobody would have a valid warranty, lol!

if it was big enough issue it would be in writing for you to sign....it would also be mentioned during the sale I imagine

My dealer put 150 miles on my truck driving it up from the other dealer's lot who made the dealer trade.  I would be willing to bet large sums that the driver exceeded 55 mph in the 70 mph zones on the freeway.  Also, go test drive one and take it on the freeway.  There is about zero chance the salesman will tell you not to exceed 55 on the freeway.

Exactly. Yeah not gonna lie when I test drove my first 2500 diesel I wanted to know what it felt like compared to my 1500, I definitely floored it to see what it felt like.

mine too......dealer trade from san diego….they said they put it on trailer, but the mileage showed the exact same distance from diego to Irvine plus a few test drives and it was filthy with road kil insects on grill before they washed and detailed it

FYI

I didn't think of this until yesterday.

I have oil samples of both oil changes in canning jars. 700 miles and 1447 miles.

I tipped both jars yesterday and looked at the bottoms for sediment.

The jar with the oil from the first oil change ( 700 miles) factory oil and filter had sediment on the bottom of the jar. Picture included.

The jar from the second oil change (747 miles) does not have any sediment.

Useful info?

You decide.

:)

Added picture. Edited post.

FYI but all new vehicles now data log everything.  The dealer can access it.  It will show on what date and time each drive had occurred and how it was driven.  Everything, speed, rpm's braking.  So if you think about it they know how it was driven and can use that accordingly.  This is why some insurance companies give the customers that want it a plug to put in the OBD port to track their driving habits and give them lower rates.  Sad to say but we are being monitored whether we like it or not.
