Still shopping around for an SLT/5.3/4x4/Crew Cab/5.5FT Bed. The limited supply and high demand for SLT's isn't helping too much.

Everywhere i look online, it seems there is a ton of Denali vehicles to choose from.

I'm assuming nobody wants to buy one due to their $70,000 sticker.

Why are the Denali's $8k+ over a fully loaded SLT?

Doesn't that seem like overkill for the same truck with a little extra leather?

You can find many Denalis for sale online under $60K with the rebates out there right now.

The biggest reason the Denalis cost so much more than the SLTs is because of the tech packages you can slap on them. You also get Magnaride with the Denali, which is a big selling point for most of the high-end / luxury truck buyers.

Exactly the reasons why I purchased the Denali

Don't forget the chrome.

I agree with you, jack up the price for some extra leather and shiny chrome. The Denali doesn't perform any differently or better than my LT.

But I think I know why:

You know the word "Denali" means the "High One", right?  No, seriously.

GM openly admits their current marketing strategy is "If it's really worth $50K, we'll put a $70K sticker on it and hope to sell it for at least $60K.  And it seems to be mostly working for them--must be a whole lotta people robbing banks out there.

If you're willing to travel from CA to ID, there are several SLTs here like you describe.  I bought mine 2 weeks ago, same config, about 12K off MSRP.

It's because people continue to pay that crazy high amount for them. Doesn't matter if you have the money or not, people will go into debt just to have the most expensive truck on the market.

I mostly like the Denali, but in no way does it live up to it’s image as of now. If you can wait a year, wait. Otherwise do your best to avoid sitting in a 2021 Yukon SLE that’s 20k cheaper and nicer in just about every way. Talk about a kick in the balls.

It's the same reason the SLT costs more than an SLE. Styling and bells and whistles.

I found a loaded SLT with 1,500 miles on it for 42,500 OTD so I drive a SLT. But I can also call a spade a spade and agree that the Denali is the better looking truck. When I bought my truck you could find a Denali for under 60k but I couldn't justify 17.5k for Amp research steps, HUD, slightly better gauge cluster and a slightly nicer grill so I didn't. In all actuality if the Denali was only 8k more, I would be driving a Denali.

The better question is how does an AT4 cost more than a SLT? And how does Chevy even sell half tons this generation? A loaded SLT is the second nicest truck on the road right now, but there is no doubt that the Denali is slightly nicer. And 8k is what $75 a month difference on a car payment? Not that big a difference in the grand scheme of things.

huge profit margins on high end trims.....if you really look at it and break it down its pretty easy to see where they make bank on these.....it isnt proportionate but hey if you got the cash and dont care ****** it.....cant take it with you and be hard to add it later....

My Denali had a MSRP of 65k but got it for 57k.

That was in my price range and love the truck. Next up would have been the AT4.

Only truck that my wife feels compared to her Lexus SUV in luxury features.

This is excellent advice. And true. Wait for a Denali interior refresh. The 2021 Yukon Denali interior is legit.

In Tulsa you can pick up a new AT4 with premium package for 49K, has 95% of what Denali has but with a 2" lift.

comparing what one would pay for a vehicle is like comparing apples to oranges, opinions will always vary.  Everyone I talk to about my trucks asks me why I bought it over a dodge when they have better interiors? Yes Dodge has a better interior than GMC, but in comparison to what my German vehicle interiors offer, its not even comparable.  Hands down better than anything found in North America.  It is all subjective.  Would I pay full MRSP? **** no! but give me a deal (in my opinion) and I will take it.  Mag ride makes a world of difference to me along with a few other features, but like I said that's just my opinion.

It's a lot more than that.  Most folks who buy them don't consider Denalis over priced either.  When was the last time you read one of the vehicle brochures?

    • While you are waiting on parts...   On my last few vehicles I've been installing full ceramic UVA/UVB/Infrared blocking window tint even over the solar glass my 2015 was fitted with. At high sun angles on cloudless days this is HUGE reduction in compressor load (interior heat from radiation) and your personal comfort. The new generations of Refrigerant are not as efficient as they once were.    I can't see my breath (meat locker style) but I can run the system on very low settings on very hot days and be quite comfortable. It keeps up well and if you use the recirculation until cooled down, it does so fairly quickly. If ultra humid stay in recirc. The blend door has a minimum; you won't suffocate.
    • Pryme ! I was thinking of adding one to my 2024 6.6 gas  . Could you elaborate a bit more on your statement  Thank You
    • What a wonderful result! Great story telling to. You are quite multifaceted sir.  I'd keep it. Four is my limit too and yet we have five as well. One assigned the 'salt car' to do all those tasks you hate to ask of your 'Save for Good" crowd. 😉    Don't forget the antifreeze.    The Iron 4.3 is a favorite of mine.
    • Thanks Buck Wallace ! The more owners that tell me they are getting the same noise the more comfortable I will be with it !
    • Ancillary parts to the lower intake and connections went together without issue.   There was a brief pause when I leak-tested the fuel lines and injection system. Fuel was spraying all over. Lovely. O-rings weren't sealing the fuel lines to the spider, and inbound line was leaking at schrader valve, leaks at both flange nuts. It's moments like those when you just want to set fire to the whole shop, and be done with it. I was mostly enjoying the project up until that point, and was tracking to an agenda of having a running Blazer and a cold beverage in hand by dinnertime.    I found some larger Viton o-rings for my spider and some grease to get them to seat. One leak solved. Swapped fuel line Schrader core for old core. Still leaked. Swapped entire valve for old valve. Leak solved. Nudged the flange nuts a little tighter on the connections. Another leak solved. I could cycle the key / prime the pump and the intake was staying dry.    Reassembled the upper intake, with 10,000 vacuum lines, and filled the cooling system with water* (this is temporary, I'm not done with the cooling system yet).   Showtime!!   Cranked it over and smoke billowed, it was running rough. CEL illuminated and began flashing. P0300 and I somehow tripped a code for the TPS sensor, voltage low.    There's nothing as unrewarding as a vehicle that won't run (and produces the same code/problem) after hours of research and work.   Clearly I was in over my head. Was the timing off, did I stab the distributor incorrectly? Is the new distributor bad? With my limited OBD 1.5 data stream I really don't have a lot of parameters to see. The engine was pulling mad timing again (flooding?).   Think, Atlas, think.   1-6-5-4-3-2. One, six, five.....four, three, ....two. Wait a second. That makes no sense. 1 is the forward cylinder on the driver's side, so 2 should be the forward cylinder on the passenger side, not 6.    I can't believe it, but I'm looking right at it. Swapped 2 and 6 on the distributor and turned the key over, and...   It fired, coughed and stumbled, smoked, and then settled into a smooth idle. The scanner showed no codes, no lights on the dash, and the throttle was nice and responsive to gentle revs while it warmed up.   It's working!!! IT'S WORKING!!!   I paused for a late dinner, no cold beverage yet. I was determined to do my shakedown run. Did a basic safety and fluids check one more time and then went out and put almost 70 miles on it last night. She's a runner, runs good.   Came home and did a post-trip, post-mortem. The underside is dry *except* for where the last owner RTV'd the snow out of the intersection of the timing cover and oil pan. He said he had replaced the timing cover seal, but, my dude had clearly done it incorrectly and then tried to hold back fate with black RTV. Never works.   Yesterday morning I replaced the broken driver's door mirror. As much as I hate cheap Chinese parts, thank goodness for cheap Chinese parts. I think an entire new power mirror assembly cost me like $30, and it works perfectly. Replacement tail lights (faded, and one was busted) ran me about $12/side. I have a door pin kit ready to go in because the driver's door sags just a little and I want to fix that because there's nothing sadder than a saggy door.   I don't know what's next for this rig. Half of me wants to take some nice photos (there's a park nearby with a HUGE American Flag that always seems to be catching wind) and throw it up on CL/Marketplace for a couple grand and see if it flies. The other half of me... I've got a sweet running S10 Blazer that's been keeping my mind off of whatever I'm going through right now, and it's bringing some joy, and is cheaper than therapy. Maybe I'll keep it around for a little while. However, this is my 5th vehicle, just for me. 4 is really my limit, but they are not junk, so need very little attention. I don't know...there's a point where it's just too much and I don't see owning this truck long term. But I solved its major problem, got it running, so I'm going to stick a feather in my cap for now.   Sometimes we just need to get our hands dirty and fix something in the physical world to gain some satisfaction.
