You can talk about this until the cows come home, bottom line owners will deal with GM's decision. We are a corporation's source of revenue, nothing more.

As true as that is, and I agree it is, the problem remains and these 13 pages were and continue to be a process to find remedy for those who own this particular flawed engine. IMHO this went better than most. Remember, asking questions implies that you want to hear the answers. Even after your question is answered and your interest in the topic has wained, others may need more.

Prov 18:13 reads, "When anyone replies to a matter before he hears the facts, It is foolish and humiliating."

Or find a dealer, service manager like the one in   Alamosa CO who actually cares about his customers!
I got reimbursed for a part on my 2.7 Trail Boss after I sold it!

Nope. It wasn`t me that made him put out this vid;  Or, does he visit here?🤔

Key takeaways: GM 0w40 response is a BAND-AID

Change your oil almost immediately after buying a unit with L87.

Use oil analysis to guide your decision making!!
Do contact a lifetime GM owner @Black02Silverado and order the advanced OilAnalyzers test to guide before and after.

I will interpret your data for free here

Maybe my early oil changes, ie, 500 miles, then 1,500 and then at 3,000 when I get new vehicles is why I don't have oil consumption or any other oil related issues.  Most say it's a waste but seems to work for me.

Lake Speed Jr. has a large following and backs up everything with data/facts. Hopefully this will help those that still want to move to a higher viscosity oil understand that it isn't always the best move.

For those that want to do used oil analysis you can get your kits here or contact me for a GM-Trucks discount.

I've not seen it yet in any of the most updated versions of the recalls but if correct, it is only on the trucks that pass and switch oil weight.  If it gets a replacement engine, no extended coverage as the new engine is outside the defect window.

this.

I did send him a message with some of the details I had at the time, was like day 2.  can't wait to watch his video later today, I'm sending my oil to speed diagnostix in the future.

Blackstone is up to $50.00 these days, for a single.

Man, that’s sad because they don’t do enough testing and their interpretation SUX

It's good. Yes and please test. I'm doing a motor right now that has improved (lower wear metals) and hasn't hurt mpg either. Moved from 0W20 to 5W40. I don't do blanket statements or laughy emoji's for Lakes Videos. I don't ignore data.

I’m not saying what you’re doing is wrong or right. Due to time constraints through out my life especially with my work vehicles. I did not break in, extended my oil changes from the beginning. Up until the Frankenstein (cylinder deactivation engines). I only had one engine failure ever. It was a defect. I worked them hard drove them hard. My work vehicles gas or diesel idled more than were driven. Only two from new used oil. They never increased their usage from new. The damage to the engines are related to stretching fuel mileage. In this case it appears to be a manufacturing defect. Even if GM says ok we’re going to replace all the engines in the range as needed. They will probably only extend that to the original warranty period. Even if they are forced or agree to push that farther. The next best scenario will be you’re going to get in a line. That line could be very long. So the choice will be to trade it in or buy a back up. If you trade in for another GM there shouldn’t be a penalty. I wouldn’t be driving one that falls in that category.

well I slid under snow white today, what a pain in the ass to that engine tag but i got it.... September 14, 2024.... a saturday engine!?  not sure if that's better or worse than a friday or a monday but it's O.T.!!! when my dad and friends worked at harrison/delphi there were a lot of jokes about friday and monday builds.

My best friend has a Sierra SLT with Max Tow... April, he has the recall on his app.  he tows a 7,500lb 35ft travel trailer but hasn't towed with it yet.... freaking sucks.  interestingly he got his in november and it had been damaged in transit but the dealer didn't disclose it, he subsequently hit a deer on the same side of that other damage, and the shop he got it done at showed him all the shitty work that had been done prior... went back to the dealer and they gave him a 100,000 mile warranty for the bs.  that's one way to get the warranty i guess.

feel bad for people in the recall range but on the bright side you've got a new engine waiting in the wings i guess.
