First Post - Couple 'o Questions

Hi!

Finally had time to sit down and go thru the forums. Picked up my truck in late September - 07 GMC NBS 4x4 Ext cab 5.3l. 2GTEK19J771693911 I absolutely love the truck. Haven't added any mods except a bug defletor and some window guard things. I'm going to wait till spring to mod it out the way I'd like it. I'll also wake that 5.3 up as well.

 

I needed a 5.3l truck and extended cab, and had to stay within a budget of under $24K. With GMS and rebates I was able to stay within that budget. Didn't have much of a choice from dealer stock in my area, so I settled on a WT model. No bells and whistles, but perfect for my needs. Have air, am/fm and an ipod; the vinyl floor is a godsend... Would rather spend my money on dressing it up than stuff I really don't care about.

 

But now, I'd like to add mouldings to the doors. Does anyone know if these are available? I see on the SL and SLE's that there are a few different kinds. I'm not trying to make an SLE out of a WT, but just think the mouldings will dress it up and give a bit more protection, etc. I've gone to my dealer twice, but can't seem to get with the collision shop to have them check. Any help/part numbers there would be helpful.

 

Second, the jump seat in the middle is driving me absolutely crazy. I'm a big guy and it just seems cramped. Plus, it doesn't move, and the armrest/console storage thing isn't working out... Thought I liked it, but it's more of a pain than not. I can pull it out, but would like a console to put in its place. Can a factory console be had seperately as well? I see consoles available online, but at 10" wide, it doesn't make for a great fit.

 

If anyone has any advice, part numbers, websites, etc., I'd be appreciative.

Welcome to the forum first of all...

 

I know factory moldings are available through GM for the front doors and rear half doors. You should be able to get them through your dealer. They look pretty nice. GM quit putting moldings on new truck beds about 2003 (or so).

 

No help on your seat question here...

Oh, and I think the body side mouldings come unpainted.

 

Therefore, they will have to be painted before application. How much for a quart of automotive paint?
