New to the forum. Lurked for a while, long time Chevy fan, love the community and all the great info here. Chevy used a picture of my truck in their Memorial Day social media campaign. Kinda cool to have them contact me for that and to see it in my feed as I randomly scroll through one day. This is my current ride. 2019 Silverado 1500 LTZ crew 6.2L and my fifth Silverado over all. My previous models were: 2009 LT Z71 2012 LTZ 6.2 2014 LTZ Z71 2017 LTZ Z71 Midnight Edition and a 2000 S10 Xtreme back in the day. My wife is on her third Tahoe, currently driving a 2017 LT Z71.5 points

Picked her up a week ago. So far I’ve tint matched the front windows and had a rhino liner sprayed. Also put on tri fold tonneau cover and the GM “work truck” steps. The steps are half the price of most steps GM offers but I prefer the look to all the others. Next I plan to add a more aggressive tire, level it off or lift it just slightly, cover up as much chrome as possible and add a subwoofer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

Soo.... I’ve never actually done this before never really thought much about it until today and I decided to change my air filter inside the cab . I never had a vehicle that it even crossed my mind to check. This is 60k worth of crap. Going to definitely be on my maintenance list. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

TXGREEK: I was 5 years old in 1958 and couldn't remember not having a wrench in my hand then. Knew every tool in dad's very extensive collection and how to use them. He was US Army and good old dirt farmer trained. Oil came in paper cans back then and ALL commercial oils were still mineral with the majority still Group 1. Premium oils were Group II and few at the time were dewaxed nor was the Sulphur removed. You learned to hate Pennzoil pretty quick as the clean up guy. I spent allot of my time under dad's feet and under his wing and mostly in the solvent tank cleaning and disassembling everything I had the strength to take apart and everything he could. When I had that mastered he taught me all he knew and I was building motors out of his shop before I was 10. I've watched the petroleum industry every step of the way from reclaimed clay filtered waste oil still in use after Korea and sold for 10 cents a quart at your local Hudson station up to and including current ester oils becoming commercial. I had the timely good fortune to work in the industry and be extensively trained and receive the front row seat to watch it all unfold. Motor oil, Gasoline, Diesel, Avgas, Jet, Kerosene and heating. Group III came to fruition during my tenure. Had the opportunity to make tankers of esters. I worked Shale oil refining. I wrenched. Had my own shade tree until I was about 30. I raced and mostly I observed what oils, all of them, are and can do in the hands of both the person who cares and the person who cares not. In the beginning I saw stuff come out of cans I wouldn't have though you could get in a can. I'm amazed how dirty "new" oils are even today. I have literally seen it all and the one thing I've learned is this my friend; there is always someone 30 years your junior who learned off a YouTube video that is going to claim not only is everything you know irrelevant but he learned more in a few hours YouTubing than you learned in a lifetime. All you can do is say what you have to say then say goodbye. I use what I use for a reason and I use it how I use it for those same reasons. I wish people were reasonable but...….They would rather feel vindicated than learn what they know, what they built their personality on...is in error. Some just like to bait you. You did a good thing here.2 points

I put the Chevy bed rug in today. Tired of having my fishing reels and other gear getting all banged up. Probably not for everyone but I am happy to have what is essentially a big trunk now! Plus I still have the rubber mat I can throw down on top if I am moving something nasty around. Had to adjust the tonneau cover slightly forward to maintain power tailgate operation, and cut out for the lights and power outlet...but it was really pretty easy to put in overall.2 points

I don’t mind any of the polished wheels GM has for the T1. Beats the hell out of those chrome plastic clad wheels IMO. Won’t break my heart if those kind never come back.2 points

Here’s the reason why I’m putting mud guard on. These rock chips are relentless. The first pic is a big paint flake knocked off. The second pic is not dirt - those are all paint dings. Thanks to these tiny gems, I didn’t have to remove the wheels. And here are the front and rear installations. I used the clips in the rear instead of drilling. Finally able to get over to my friend’s house with a lift and threw on my Carven Competitor exhaust. Sounds great in the garage. Haven’t actually driven it yet. Drooling over his old school GS 400. Edit: Sounds really good. Pretty aggressive tone. Also sounds quieter than I was expecting. Doesn’t even sound bad in V4 mode, but doesn’t sound good either but you can tell it’s in V4. No noticeable drone to me.2 points

All finished up, the entire front end was done - full grill, full bumper w/inserts, all lights, full hood, full fenders, A-pillars, B-pillars, roof, door cups & edges. Tint is XPEL Prime XR Plus. 35% rears/sunroof, 20% front. This morning the running boards were put on and I picked up the console vault.2 points

Just bought my 2019 GMC Sierra SLE Monday! I’ve always wanted a full size truck and when I went looking I couldn’t pass up this beautiful truck! I bought a 2016 Tacoma TRD sport before because I wanted truck with good gas mileage, but after I got cancer last year and recovered(not trying to post a sob story) I decided that I wanted to live life to the fullest and by a full size truck. I can’t wait to mod this truck and give it a even better look! Look forward to seeing everyone’s awesome trucks!2 points

Changed out the cabin filter and then decided to clean/blow off the Airaid dry filter. Didn't look too bad as it's not my DD... [emoji1690] Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk1 point

Heck, I remember in the mid 80's it seems that a good friend of my dad was telling us about how good Amsoil was and how it was so far advanced from anything else. And, that man was always a very smart well respected fella too. We just didnt really have anything that required such a good oil at the time. Or, more honestly anything we really gave a damn about using such a good oil in lol. We just used Castrol. Times, they change:)1 point

Well, fellas this thread has been very enlightening and, I appreciate it. Reckon Ill need Amsoil Signature Series 0W-20? I have a 2019 5.3 DFM L84 I think? At any rate, I'm gonna go with Amsoil! And, Wix filters too I reckon. It will be more expensive no doubt. But, it seems like its really far superior to Mobil 1. Not at all to say Mobil 1 is not good. Not at all. Just that Amsoil Signature Series is just that good!1 point

Yup, PN is 84050683. Around $45 on eBay. EDIT, looks like GM Parts Direct raised the price about $13 since I bought it in June. Shopchevyparts.com might be cheaper.1 point

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking with an engine temp of 210 vs 176 on the magnets, it was worth checking into. And my project for the day is Husky mudflaps to hopefully tame some of the rocks we have so many of in Colorado. Amazon Warehouse deal for $40 for all 4 wheels. Damaged packaging, perfect product! I would argue that the bulk def from a busy truckstop pump is probably fresher than jugs. (if you are saying don't by jugs that are stacked by a fuel pump, then I'd agree)1 point

Not yet. They have been on there for at least a year and still plenty strong. They are sticking to the outside of the oil filter. I don't know what the normal oil temperature is inside the filter but the amount transferred to the magnets would be a little less. The temperature chart I found online says that 176*F is the working temperature for the majority of the brand magnets I am using on my filter. There are some that rated to operate at a higher temperature tolerance. All that being said I expect to find them gone at every oil change so far but have been surprised, they are still sticking very well. I expect them to last for a long time.1 point

Figured this would be better here since already discussed in depth than a new thread. Looking dealer inventory and building 2020 Silverado & Sierra I noticed that Trailer TPMS sensors included on 19s higher trims no longer is. Noticed first when looking at my dealer's inventory and noticed the 20s they had added them as a $50 option the later confirmed on GMs sites. Perhaps this is because so many unaware what they were as well as left behind during dealer PDI as mentioned here. Whatever the real reason just an FYI for those expecting to come with their 20s, or worse not getting them after they were a $50 add-on!1 point

Tailgate release handle (button) has two small lenses on either side.........the driver's side is the camera but couldn't figure out the passenger side.....until I turned on the bed lamps with the tailgate closed........it is an LED lamp that lights up the button and the whole rear of the tailgate. Don't know if standard or only with optional inside bed lamps or remote drop gate........but it is impressive and a nice touch because the cab lamps don't light the rear handle of the gate..1 point

this isnt new to the 2019s this started on the last generation of the trucks based on what trans you have. if you have an 8/10 speed it has no dipstick. but if you had the 6 speed it did. but there is ways to check the fluid level, truck has to be running and at operating temp, there is a check plug on the pan. pull it. fluid will run out, when it slows to a drip put the plug bag. its full. if it dont run out at all then it is most likely a lil low. there is a fill plug on the side of the case.1 point

With the same load, 3500 will "squat" less than 2500 with the same load if that load gets into the second stage of the spring. GM trucks are designed with a forward rake so they sit level when loaded. If you level your truck, then you will deal with squat because you took the rake out.1 point

The three main differences between 2500 and 3500 SRW are: rear tire pressure increases from 70 to 80 psi, three stage leaf spring, and rear shock has more force. The second stage of 3500 leaf engages quicker than 2500, so larger bumps are more firm. In general, the rolling isolation is similar and larger bumps are a little firmer. If you choose diesel engine, you get 12" ring gear and no engine torque limiting in lower gears. #iworkforGM1 point

Picked up my 2500 AT4 HD last night. Dark Sky Metallic. Unfortunately, the running boards weren't with the truck when it was delivered. Goes back Friday morning to have those installed along with the console vault. I've only driven it about 60 miles, but it's much different from my 2018 2500HD. So far, I've added the mud flaps and the rear underseat storage bin - black GMC emblems are on their way too and should arrive in a couple days. Dropped it off this morning for full Xpel Ceramic tint and full Xpel clear bra. They'll have it two days for that.1 point

Plasti dipped the emblems on my tailgate and door. Trying to figure out what to do about the chrome accent pieces. I guess wrapping them would be much better than spraying them. Got a 1.5" level (can't go higher and fit in the parking garage), NITTO TERRA GRAPPLER G2 305 /45 R22, bed cover and a few other things. Has anyone installed a light bar behind the grill on a 2019 yet?1 point

The little issues on my truck are starting to mount up but on the bright side, i went ahead and installed a tonneau cover. I had been searching for weeks because there are so many options. I went with the Gator EFX hard fold purchased from RealTruck for $616 (got 5% off by calling them). Cheapest of all the hard-fold covers but very high quality. It showed as back-ordered for 3 weeks but i got it within the week. Install was easy, there is a video of it being installed on the Sierra on RealTruck's website. I went through a carwash and it leaks a tiny bit in the tailgate area which makes sense because the back as no "seal". You can probably install a back seal if that bothers you. Multi-pro tailgate opens and closes easily. Very happy with it so-far.1 point
