How's going folks? My name is Dakota Grounds and I'm just trying to feel my way around this forum along with maybe picking up some useful information. I am a mechanic in the Air Force but I don't know alot about vehicles. I drive a 2009 Silverado LT Z71 4x4. It is completely stock but I would like to beef it up a bit under the hood. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the site. Blackbear Performance custom tune is what you want to start out with. It all depends on what you want to spend :dunno:

They are a sponser on the site so there's a link to their website on the right.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the link and I don't really understand what it's talking about. I kind of get tuning the engine but what would it tune to? My everyday driving?

The ones you'd notice the most are things like shift points, shift firmness, rev limiter, speed limiter, more power, torque management both engine and transmission, better fuel management, better throttle response are a few worthy of mentioning. Look at is as optimizing the computer for a better driving experience.

It makes a very noticeable difference in how the truck performs. If you choose the autocal handheld option, you can do data logging for engine and transmission management so Justin can dial into exactly what your truck needs to make it run better. Even though 2 trucks that look the same and share the same specs can drive very different so just getting a "canned" tune that works for everyone doesn't necessarily optimize your engine. By data logging the engine controls, you get a true custom tune for your truck.

I appreciate the advice. Now is there parts I need to worry about before I go and get it tuned? I was wanting an exhaust. I've already ruled out a CAI and a throttle body spacer after reading some of the discussions on here. What other parts add power?
