Previous tractors were the A and the B.

Now those are some good tractors. I have a restored 1936 Model B unstyled and my father has a 1959 330 standard that we still use today. Nothing like the sound of the old John Deere 2 cylinders.

Interesting thing that most people don't know about the old 2 cylinders: each putt that you year is actually both cylinders firing one behind the other. When one cylinder fires, the other is coming up on the compression stroke. They fire so close together that you really can't hear each fire individually. That's why they were never real good hooked up to a pulley. There was too much lag time before they fired again.

I'm just doing a little log skidding. The log in the grapple is about a

foot thick. The are cut 18 feet long. The big ones in the pile are 2 ft

thick.

Tractor is a 4320 4x4 with R4 tires, 48 eng, 40 pto hp, 400 loader is rated about 8 ft high w/ 2200 lbs. Worksaver grapple is a big labor saver when I

am clearing a customers property. It handles a 6 ft MX6 1100 lb cutter

really well. This one has a wet clutch power-reverser 12 speed transmission

which is really helpful doing loader work. No clutching required from

forward to reverse.

It is a little big in tight areas around the house, but it works great

almost everywhere else. I just need more attachments.

Later.

That Murray built John Deere TRS-27 can be very very troublesome. Please keep on top of the maintenance on it. :( I get to deal with 4 of em. 3 of the 4 are in big trouble and going to need a lot of work. 1 will likely be scrapped. But when they run well they do great.

Grapples are awesome! When I was in the ag equipment business, my customers said they were very handy. I knew I needed one for my business, since I was tired of picking up all the brush I was cutting down. It stays hooked up most of the time.

If you have property to maintain & have a loader, a grapple is great to have.

Is there something special to look out for? I bought it used about 8 years ago and have used it a lot. So far, so good. About all I have done is replace the fuel filter. Thanks for the feedback.

Here's my new project. A 70's Speedex lawn tractor that was owned by my grandfather since new. Trailered it back to New Hampshire this summer. It had sat in a barn and was not started in over 20 years.

Once home, I put in new gas, spark plug, new oil, and a new battery. It started right up!

This spring I'm replacing the starter gear, front tires, gas tank, and carburetor.

Spent a lot of hours on B's and G's back in the late 50's thru the 60's. Have always thought about getting my hands-on a good JD A. B, or G and having it for the annual tractor ride across Iowa event. I always got a kick out of turning over the old G and watching the coffee can on the stack go flying when it fired.

Ill have to snap a pic of my 345 John Deere with a snow thrower on the front. I need to replace the fuel pump on it so I'll get a pic then. We have a huge driveway, so the tractor with the front end snow thrower really helps.
