So you can use the 5100s to add a little bit more height when you have a lift already? I'd like to get another 1/2" or 3/4" on my truck.

You can, but it depends on the lift. A kit like the RC 7.5" kit really can't handle the extra lift because it is essentially a 5" lift with a 2.5" levelling kit, so it causes the angles to be maxed out. Putting 5100's on it set at anything more then 0 will give you bad angles…

Thanks[emoji106] I may try it.

Anyone running the 5" RCX knuckle lift...?

I'm running the 6" if that counts[emoji16]

How far did it push your front wheels out, and is it compatible with the stock rims?

1.5" and yes

OK so I'm new to the lifted truck market I have always modified my rides but never had a lifted truck. So my question is I bought my 14 silverado used in February. It already had a 6" lift installed. I see they used blocks in the rear and the frot they have some sort of spacer that sits on top of coil spring and possibly a different set of spindels? Also all stock shocks

So what sets on style or brand of lift apart from the other? They all achieve same idea but what is the difference between them? Is it primarily the ride quality? Or does one type of lift wear less on truck suspension than the other?

I plan on keeping truck for a while so if who ever did the lift went the cheap route I'd like to make some changes and make it right. I appreciate all and any input on the subject thanks.

Lots of good info guys & great looking trucks......Thanks!

I'm ordering a new 16 Silverado Crew 4x4 LTZ with a 6 1/2" bed & 6.2 with max tow pkg as soon as I can put the order in.

My plan is just do a 2.5 leveling kit & 1.5-2" body lift & wanting to stay with the stock chrome 20s, (would prefer 18s but probably not available) with the tallest & widest tires I can, without any major rubbing...if I hafta trim a couple inches of plastic wheel liner, no biggy!

Does Z71 make any difference?

Whats my tire options for sizes & brands?

I just ordered the bds standard 6 in lift with the fox shocks. I wanted to get the optional rear leaf springs instead of the block in the rear but the shop who doing the lift said I do not really need them. I really would like to maintain the nice factory ride. I do not tow much with the truck neither do I put a lot of stuff in the back. I'm new to lifting trucks and I want to know if I really have to worry about axle wrap. My truck has the 5.3 v8 and I would assume since it's a half ton and not a diesel axle wrap shouldn't be a big problem but I simply don't know. All replies are greatly appreciated

If you want to stick with factory wheels then tire width is going to be what makes them rub. The big positive offset of stock wheels plus the fact that leveling kits will pull the front tires in slightly by nature of the suspension geometry is going to put the inner tire sidewall of wider tires closer to the suspension. Wider than 295 section width is going to start rubbing control arms and sway bar when the wheels are turned full lock.

Tallest sizes on stock 20" wheels that won't rub much are going to be 275/65/20 or 295/60/20.

On 18s it's going to be 295/70/18.

I would like to know more about this question as well. I am contemplating the BDS 5" block vs the glide ride springs. I am concerned using 5" blocks and axle wrap, but I am more concerned about a crappy ride with the springs being too stiff. I do tow toys, but not every day. (snowmobiles, quads jet skis etc.) Anyone with either set up want to comment? Thanks.

I just installed this kit on the same truck as yours and so far my only complaint is that I wish the rear of the truck sat about an inch higher. I'm thinking of installing an add a leaf to cure this problem, as for the ride I think it is better than stock. The kit is pricey, but very well built and really ties the front of the truck together. I'm running a air raid intake and diablo sport tuner and driving on no interstates i'm still getting 17mpg after its recalibrated. Moto metal mo970 20by 10's with mickey thompson deegans 35by12.50 awesome tires and very little noise for the size of the lug. I hope this helps you out.

I went with a 6" BDS lift. Fox coils up front, new leafs in the rear.

How do you like the rear leafs? How do they compare for ride against stock? I have heard others here say they are too stiff. Have you towed anything with that set up?

How high did the rear of your truck end up being? I am guessing a 5" block should put you around 45 inches?

SO....a +20 or +25 wheel compared to the +30 something stock wheels will help you go wider with tires?

    • What’s missing in all this is patience and investment in the future. Buy a 170K starter home. Ten years later sell it invest in a more expensive home. Eventually you’ll have a 600K home and pay starter home payments. Buy a starter car. Maintain it well. Save the payments after it’s payed for then buy an expensive car if you desire. Buy a tumbler make your own coffee, pack your lunch. Cook your own dinner. Most importantly take care of your car.
    • People mislead themselves. Statistics are highly useful indicators.   Here's the tie-in to this thread. If an oil sample tests shows a wear indicator of 7 using cheaper ACDelco oil, and a wear indicator of 2 (lower = less wear) using a particular brand of Mobil oil, and wear has a linear relationship with engine lifespan, anyone could assume that Mobil is reducing wear by more than 50% (let's just say a 200% reduction for you red state people trying hard to do math) which leads to increasing engine life by 2x. Perhaps, in a vacuum, by itself, when dreamed by AI.   Yeah?! That's what the statistic is saying, isn't it?   No, it isn't. It didn't come out and say engine life is doubled. That's a very bad assumption, and a case of severe myopia by assuming something potentially untrue about the only data point in focus.   Average cost of a new car is 50k. You bet it is.   The median cost of a new car is more like 35k. Expensive cars are skewing the perception that "average" now means a $50k price of entry for a very average automobile. And that's not true. People who don't understand statistics twist the living heck out of them to mean all sorts of things they don't actually mean.   "Average" new car payment is $1000/month. Yep, it is. And in that number are all the $35k new car buyers who bring significant equity, and the $25k new car buyers who finance the car for a month just to get a rebate, and then pay it off. Know what isn't in that number? All the payments made by people who don't finance a car.   Picking one's own data point (don't have a car payment, never paid $50k for a new vehicle, my house cost $170k, I afforded a middle class lifestyle on $4.50/hr) is just a data point. Just like earning $25/hr in an area where the median home price is almost $1 Million is a data point. In fact, it's a lot of data points given that 80% of the US population lives in/around major cities. They're not idiots; the vast majority of them do it to make a living because that's where the big money is.   The highs have become higher, lows have become lower, and how your personal mileage varies is not truth for an entire country. At the same time you can't NOT acknowledge the data. While it doesn't paint YOUR personal picture, it certainly tints the reality that you also live in, as does your single data point.
    • Glad you had success with it. I did as well, but about 5-6 months later it returned. Tried again, same result. This was after the dealer made several attempts and never even got it to slow down.

    • I have a LTZ and it has the shifter in the console, which I like, but, every now and then, it will not stay in Reverse. I go through all the motions, hold the button in, push the shifter forward and watch the dash.  The big red R comes on and also the back up camera.  Then, it just pops out of Reverse with the shifter all the way forward.  So then the game begins.  Back and to Drive, Reverse.  This goes on 8 - 10 times. Very frustrating. Had it back to the dealer and they replaced some kind of computer, but it is now happing again. It is so bad, my wife will not drive the truck, she is afraid of being stuck somewhere.    Anyone else with this PIA problem?
