Understood. If you find a solution, please post here...as I'm in the same boat. Would like to go with non-OEM shocks as I'm not pleased with the reports of low shock life. My 04 Yukon XL with HD trailer package was on original shocks at 219K miles...and I towed a 2 ton sailboat a lot!

2017 1500 . 4" bds lift kit moto metal d970 20x10 ridge grappler 33x12.5 bush wacker flares.. i love my choice.. looks n is functional. wheels are about 2" max past the flares. maybe more like 1.5-1.75 but looks sick n drives killer.. love the tires awesome on freeway great in city an wet so far no issues.. the snow will be the test..

What’s up y’all? It’s been a REAL long time since I posted. How many of you have upgraded your UCA to after market, beefier styles? My upper ball joints are going. I can either go the moog route, or I’m considering dropping the $500 on the Zone UCAs. They’re made for my lift and, according to my off-road shop, they last longer than. Stock components. Thoughts?

If you’re going to drop $500 on the zones, get the cognitos instead. Boxed arms and ball joint is easy to change and can be replaced with moog

I’ve heard some good stuff about Cognito. They’re a better option than Zone? I figure Zone is pretty much the same as a BDS UCA.

I’m sure they’re similar, I just like cognitos better personally. I’m a desert guy and I know for a fact cognito builds good things, haven’t seen zone/bds as much in the desert world. That’s not to say they don’t build quality stuff as I’m sure they do, but I like to go with what I’ve seen firsthand

After a year of reading this forum got the 6” gen2 Fabtech lift. Thanks everyone for all the info and great pics that got posted.

Hey there everyone, I've been doing my research and read about every thread I can regarding the halo-lifts full kit (if this would be better posted in the level section please let me know).

I'm looking to do a full coilovers, rears and blocks kit to replace the stock shocks and the over-strut block and 3" rear blocks that a previous owner did to my truck. Currently rides quite rough and skips a bit over some highway bumps (Boston roads are trash) so it seems that the halo-lifts Boss kit would give me the best ride quality and although I would start at about 2" of lift I would consider 3" with new UCAs in the future.

 

I was hoping that any of you who have done the boss kit could weigh in, or if you have any better options I'm open to suggestions! Currently running 285/70 17s on stock wheels but with 10mm spacers due to tire rub on UCAs (I think I have about 3" of lift in the front from the blocks making the angles up front less than ideal). Thanks!

Here’s my truck on a 6” Fabtech lift running 35s. Rides good and I’m happy with it. It does some off roading so not a street queen

I'm trying to decide between a 6.5 inch lift from Zone or Superlift. They are priced about the same but Superlift seems to come with more and not cutting is involved. 

 

Anyone have any opinions they can share to help make my decision?

All your lifts with a crossmember drop have cutting involved to allow for the front differential to drop. But I do believe the Superlift is a full 6" drop crossmember, which would allow better angles. The Zone 6.5 " shares the same crossmember as there 4.5" kit.

Zone just uses a longer strut for the 6.5" kit. So in reality the Zone 6.5" angles are similar to running a 2" level on your stock truck.

I sure see lots of Zone 6.5" lifts but not many Superlift .

They are close to the same price and I wonder why you would go with the Zone and have steeper angles?

I'm think the Superlift is a better choice if your looking at 6.5" just due to the full 6.5" crossmember drop. I know a member on another forum running it on his 2018 Silverado and it is a quality lift.

Personally I didn't want to go that high on a daily driver that I do work out of the back of. 

I went with the CST 4.5" bracket lift with the CST coilovers which actually gave me 5"  of front lift. I preferred not to increase my front track width. I run a 20x10 -19 wheel and a 305/55/20  for my Summer setup. That gives a nice stance without running any rear spacers. I can also swap back to my factory 20" LTZ wheels for the Winter.

Also the CST 4.5" was designed to run a 9" wheel with 5" backspacing to allow a 35" tire. I just preferred not to run a 35" tire and stay closer to a 33"- 34" tire.

This is my 2018 with the CST 4.5".

    • That makes sense, and I think you are describing the real product problem. Capturing data is the easy part. If the owner or technician has to manually dig through five minutes of millisecond-level logs, the product has already failed. The device would be at the ECM harness, not at the OBD port, so I agree that data retrieval and event marking need to be thought through carefully. The way I am thinking about the architecture is: The recorder itself should not depend on a phone, app, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection to capture the event. It should always keep a local rolling buffer and lock the event locally. A button, phone app, or small cabin device would only act as an event marker. If the driver feels a stumble and presses the button 10–30 seconds later, the pre-buffer has to already contain the useful data. For data retrieval, the practical options would be a sealed service USB lead, Wi-Fi download, or a phone/cabin companion device. I would not expect the owner to remove the ECM-side module or work with raw files directly. The cloud or AI side would be for interpretation, not for capturing the event. The truck may have no connection when the issue happens, so the evidence has to be saved locally first. After that, cloud processing could help decode the data, compare it against baselines, and generate a readable report. For the first version, I would keep the automatic triggers conservative and objective: driver event marker bus-off error passive voltage drop / brownout device reset FIFO or queue overflow a normally periodic message disappearing side-to-side communication mismatch, if the topology supports that For “learning normal,” I agree with your point, but I would not want to overclaim it as automatic root-cause diagnosis at first. A realistic first step would be learned baseline comparison for that specific vehicle and operating condition. For example, a value would only be compared against similar conditions: RPM range load / MAP throttle position gear / vehicle speed coolant and oil temperature battery voltage AFM/DFM state, if decoded and validated Then the report could flag things like: this periodic message disappeared compared with its normal timing this value deviated from this vehicle’s normal range under similar conditions the same abnormal pattern repeated after the same type of event the anomaly occurred together with voltage, oil-pressure, misfire, or communication changes But I would still call that “abnormal pattern detected,” not “replace this part,” unless there is enough validated repair data behind it. So the intended product would not be “here is a huge log.” It would need to be an event package: what triggered the capture how much pre/post data was preserved what changed before and after the event whether the device itself reset, overflowed, or saw a bus error selected graphs around the event raw data only as supporting evidence From your perspective, what would make this kind of report useful instead of just another datalog? For example: What are the top 5 parameters or events you would want highlighted first? Would you trust a learned baseline for that specific vehicle, or would you prefer fixed thresholds? How much false-positive flagging would be acceptable before you stopped looking at the reports? What would a one-page report need to show for an independent shop to take it seriously? For misfire, AFM/DFM, oil pressure, or U-code complaints, what would you want the tool to flag automatically?
