Just got my 2016 all finished up a few weeks back - maintained about 3/4" of rake, but looks pretty level to the eye

 

Bilsteins 5100 all around

OEM 20" GMC A/T wheels

stock tires for now - soon to be either 33x12.5 or 295/55 (33x12) Toyo M/T

20% tint all around/50% windshield

 

Front - 2.5 inch (combination of bilstein 5100 set to 1.25 and 1.25 top spacer)

Rear - 1 inch (replaced 1.25 stock with 2.25) w/bilstein 5100

 

F - 39"

R - 39.75"

 

Picture is the day I bought it vs. how it sits today :)

So i put my RC 2" level kit and Toyo 295/55/20's on this weekend. Install was simple, just like on my 2011. It definitely helps to have an extra set of hands when wedging that spacer in there. 295/

Mine is finally done! After months of research I went with the RC 2.5" level kit front only, stock rear block. 20"x9" Fuel Nutz w/ +1 offset, 33x12.50x20 Toyo M/T tires. No rubbing, No trimming, yet a

2016 GMC Sierra SLT Z71. RC 2.25 leveling kit on the front, stock blocks on the rear. Tires are Nitto Grappler 285/65r20. Stock rims, no offset.

I run Nitto Trail Grappler G2 LT285/50R22 which are 33.27" diameter on 22" Escalade rims with a RC leveling kit and have no issues. Hey I just ordered a 2" Rough Country level kit for my 2014 Sierra z71, double cab. I already have 33x12.5x20 nitto ridge grapplers on the stock 20" wheels, no rub, pretty good rake. After looking at more and more pictures I am wondering if I should go with the 2.5" level kit. Is there any visible difference really between 2" and 2.5" front level kits?

Will I be happy with 2"? Or do most people with 2" and 33's wish they had 2.5"?

1) If you don't have rubbing issues then you don't need to have more lift

2) How do you not have rub issues with 33x12.5x20 at stock height??

1) I'm just looking to level out the rake and make the truck look better overall.

2) Not sure, these tires were on the truck at the dealership so maybe they did some fender trimming or something before I bought it. I didn't know 33's should rub on a stock truck since I bought it like this. I will look a little closer up under there and see.

When you say no rubbing, are you talking about with the wheels set perfectly straight? Because if you're never turning anywhere then I suppose it's possible to not have rub, but you probably can't get very far without ever turning... haha

Well I have made a few turns to the left and to the right since I've bought the truck and have yet to rub lol. So no rubbing.

33's on stock height is fine. The only thing that would worry me in the 12.5 width. I know that 11 width doesn't rub, but that extra 1.5 inch would be the only thing that worries me. All you would have to do is look on your wheel wells and UCA's to see if you can see any signs of rubbing. If you don't see anything, keep on rocking it.

2" is good enough to level out the rake.

I think either it has some sort of level under there that you don't know about... or you are rubbing on your UCA's or something and you are only looking at the fenders. It is not possible to run 12.5" tires at stock haha

      I find it amusing the OP doesn’t realize this threads heading includes several engines. He should have posted in the off topic section if he wanted a more narrow focus. I really appreciate and find amusing that he actually pointed out one of my many vehicles. The Odyssey. That happens to use 0-20 oil. I love pushing his buttons.

      Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.

      Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,

      Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
