Oil catch can?

My dealership said my catch can wasn't needed and wouldn't catch anything. I opened it in there shop after 2,000 miles and let it run on the floor. Lol

Thank you I just get tired of the dealership acting like they know everything about anything. If they would just listen once in awhile they could learn a thing or two and be better at what they do. Not saying we are always right but I learn new things in my line of work every week.

At the same time they get a lot of customers coming in that have self diagnosed their problem and they are completely wrong, so they have to stand their ground. Kind of like when you go to a doctor and tell him what you think is wrong with you as per google, and he still goes through all the routine checks to make sure what the problem is. In your case though the dealership was just flat out wrong.

Nice. I took my truck to the dealer today for my 3rd free oil change/tire rotation. I'm waiting to see what they say about my catch can. Hopefully not a word.

I am glad I put mine on. Between driving to Florida from Illinois the temperature fluctuations caused a lot to go into the can. Just this week of driving to work and back about 120 miles total I pulled out probably an ounce to two of oil.

Thank you everyone for all of the information on this thread. Spent a lot of hours reading every thing here and a few other pages. Pulled the trigger on an Elite gen2 catch can. Only have 3200 miles on the truck so hopefully it won't be too bad before I get the can in and installed. Again, thank you very much...and here I thought I was done buying things for my truck!

Just had mine for the 3rd oil change. They didnt say anything. You should be fine.

After all the discussion of catch cans, I ordered one from elite engineering. I ordered the base model I guess you would call it. Other than price, what's the difference between it and the gen 2 from elite?
