Just took off the K&N CAI and installed the stock intake assembly. Had it on for about a year, not too happy with it so it’s time to go.

Most aftermarket CAIs won't do any good unless you also have a tune/programmer thing done to adjust the vehicle computer to take advantage of that CAI.   On older vehicles a CAI would be much more noticeable, but when it comes to both exhaust and air intake, most modern vehicles are already dialed in pretty nice factory stocked.

you aint outflowing the stock cam and heads with the oem CAI. you need to upgrade the entire induction first before thats the restriction

I cant say if a CAI has ever increased my horsepower but I can tell you that it sure made getting liquid seafoam into the throttle body via a vinyl tube a heck of a lot easier. So I make sure they are on all my GM vehicles.

I had posted at a different forum page on GM-Trucks.com about my install of an Airaid 200-985 Modular Intake tube and a JLT Performance catch can and after reading some posts here thought my post may be useful to others.  The install was several thousand miles ago but all continues good. Amazing how much oil is collected in the catch can.

Here's the URL to my thread from back in September:

Is there no place to purchase a GM Performance Intake for the 2017 Silverado 5.3?

My local dealer (whom I like very much) says they can't order one, and everything says discontinued online?

Any suggestions?

If you want a GM CAI, then your only option is to keep an eye out for a used one on eBay or on here or other GM truck sites.

Oof. that's unfortunate.

Anyone have any issues with the K&N intake system when driving through wet weather? Just picked up a 2017 with a K&N CIA seems pretty open to the elements.

My sincere thoughts are to take it back to stock if you can find the missing parts.

It's fine. Intake's that are open like that only become an issue if you start crashing puddles or driving in water. You could get a pre-filter, makes it water resistant.
