RECALL (3/28/14) Transmission Line Leak

Just checking if the nut is tight might not tell you if the fitting is bad. Looks like a push in type. Maybe they didn't get them all seated right at the factory or they have some defective fittings. Looks like same type we had on some machinery at work. If you push in line and push on that ring the line will release. Makes for quick assembly at the factory. The nut is already on the block and all they have to do is push the line into it.

Could you describe where exactly this is located? I want to check mine out as well. Are you looking in the engine bay?

Under the truck, driver side on the tranny, can't miss it.

Maybe if they quit making parts in China they will not need recalls such as this one.

Right! Because the 3 different US built intermediate shafts in 6 years on my 2003 Yukon were SOOO much better.

And please point us all to the data you apparently have that shows that these shafts were made in China. I'd like to know which parts of my truck are the "inferior" Chinese ones.

Thanks in advance for the info!

GM is mostly Mexican made from the few labels I can spot underhood it seems. Ford loves them some china junk. Look at all the problem early stick shift Mustangs had back when the new 5.0 first came out.

Maybe GM should spend more time on reliability or workers should wake up more! Seems manufactures are having way to many of these recalls.

Does this effect all transmission coolers? I thought the max towing package had a different cooler.

Maybe I should delay buying a new truck a little longer..... or maybe they will go cheaper

Trust me, I was very serious about buying a 5.0 Mustang a few years back. When I saw "transmission made in China" on the car sticker, I walked away. Maybe I am one of few guys that will simply not put up with BS like this.

I'm with you. I'll tolerate this iPad being made in china but not a complex mechanical thing like a trans. Their metallurgy skills are still 3rd world.

I work for Harley Davidson and know first hand when a "service bulletin" is issued its required we check all vehicles in the particular family. Less than 5% of what we see needs to have the procedure performed. Its an inconvienience to most people but the HD owners tend to be a little more laid back. ultimatey it isnt the dealerships fault and i try to remember that when a situation like this occurrs. I doubt theyre happy about it and me walking in with a shitty attitude wont help a thing. "Just fix my shit and get me back on the road please."

Holy deja vu. Here we go again! :noway:

So is this another 'functioning as designed'.
