Call me curious.

 

I am seeing lots of wheels on ebay... most with the forward warning collision button. Obviously I am after the heated portion which they all have.

 

If I get one with the button, even though my truck doesn't have the system, will it still plug in? I understand I will have a dead button.

I would keep it simple and wait for the right one. Liability issues may come up if some one else is driving the vehicle.

Not an option as per GM, but it can easily be added. Just find a steering wheel with the option and buy the correct clock spring. If you are lucky it will be plug and play, if not it is only a ground and run hot wire to the correct fuse.

It was an option in 2014 on my SLT so I don't see why it's not an option anymore...

Might not have been clear enough, the option is available from the factory. Just don't expect the dealer to install it afterwards. They don't seem to believe it can be done.

You must need the power adjustable pedals for that plug to be hot. I plugged mine in and doesn't work. 2016 LT (no power pedals). Guess I'll tap a hot from the fuse box. Just make sure you tap off the correct side of the fuse outlet so the current flows through the fuse

UPDATE: Added a hot wire from fuse box with fuse tap. Works perfect! You can use the Negative wire from the plug so just cut the purple with white line wire and connect to 12v from Heated Steering fuse.

Very cool! I looked up that circuit and it appears to land in the X51L Fuse Panel - Pin #37 in the X2 Connector

 

Tied to the KR73 Ignition Main Relay, Fuse F32DL 7.5A

I know so you would think it would be plug n play. It would be nice to know why the plug has no power. a specially because the fuse panel has the 7.5 amp fuse in it from factory. makes no sense but I checked it with a meter - no hot just ground. If you find out why let us know must be open somewhere

I'll be calling my Gm buddy tomorrow to price out the wheel and clock spring, looks like the Silverado wheel with heat and without crash warning buttons is not available for some reason, The # 23278626 , Maybe you guys bought them all? lol Does anyone know if #84053917 is a change up part #?

Ordered my parts for this today! I'll update when I get it installed.

Just sold my old steering wheel and clock spring on Ebay for $200 total So it cost me less than $100 to do this mod. AWESOME!

Okay, so my truck has the plug and of course doesn't have power on the VT/WH wire. The ground is there. The fuse is in the left intstrument panel fuse block. The problem is, the wire that leaves the backside of the fuse block does not go to the X201 connector under the dash. The VT/WH wire comes from the X201 to the small connector at the clock spring but doesn't exist from the fuse block TO the X201 connector. To get this as a factory setup. You'd just need the terminal end for the left IP fuse block and the X201 connector terminal 41. The terminal part number for the X201 connector for terminal 41 is 7114-4110-02 YAZAKI. The part number for the fuse block, connector X2 which is Grey, is 19301761 terminated lead. X201 is right above the BCM, Big grey connector with a purple lever I believe. Wire it all up and you're good to go, factory setup running on the factory fuse.

Did you do this and did it work? just add one wire the other wires are there?

I haven't done it yet. My steering wheel isn't here. But this will work. Guaranteed!

All other wires are there. Just missing the one from the fuse block X2 connector terminal 37 to the X201 connector terminal 41.

    • I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome. 
    • Next Friday will be my 6 week point from my right knee replacement.  The surgeon says it will be fine if I choose to drive after this checkup.  I know I could drive now but best to do as my surgeon (and my wife) tell me.  Richard compared being 62 to 72.  I remember when I was in my early 60's I was experiencing slow but regular decline in my mobility.  Thanks to good medical support,  i continued to fight the speed and spread of this decline. During my 60's I worked on non-surgical methods and just when I turned 70, my orthopedic surgeon recommended joint replacements.  In a little over a year, I had one shoulder and both knees replaced.  This hasn't been a terribly fun experience, but worth the discomfort as my future mobility health trajectory has reversed.  It is a treat to now be watching my mobility. balance and confidence steadily improve!
