Thinking it is a 55, the grill does not extend all the way to the park lamps like on the 56.

I enlarged the pic and it's a '55. the two tone lines on the '56 is different and the hood and grille has a point in the center on the '56.

I wasn't looking for a blue truck, but I'm pretty glad I found one...

If you look at the bottom of the photo, you'll see the tailgate is closer to my vantage point on the left than on the right, therefore it is an optical illusion. I assure you my bed is straight and intact

 

As for the vehicle in the background... Guy daily drove it in the summer. I think he may have parked it for the time being, right now there's an 88-92 K5 Blazer in that same spot.
