GMC Posts Updates to the Sierra 1500 for 2016

GMC posted up the new 2016 Sierra 1500 features, changes, and deletions over the weekend. Following are the details. Tell us below what matters most to you:

 

2016 GMC 1500 New Features:

 

(A91) Remote Locking Tailgate (IOB) Radio: IntelliLink audio system with 7" color touch screen (KC4) Wireless Charging (TQ5) IntelliBeam, automatic high beam on/off headlights (included and only available with Y86 Enhanced Driver Alert Package) Headlamps, bi-halogen projector with LED signature Headlamps, Full LED headlamps with LED signature Tailamps, LED with signature (NZQ) 20" Black painted aluminum wheels (UHX) Active Safety Lane Keep Assist (included and only available with Y86 Enhanced Driver Alert Package) (SDA) LPO Chrome recovery hooks (G1E) Crimson Red Tintcoat (G7C) Cardinal Red (G1W) White Frost Tricoat

 

2016 Sierra 1500 Deletions:

 

(IO4) Audio system (RT5) 18" chrome aluminum wheels (NZM) 20" chrome aluminum wheels (G1H) Cayenne Metallic (GBN) White Diamond Tricoat (GCE) Sonoma Red Metallic (GCN) Fire Red (GWX) Bronze Alloy Metallic (G7J) Emerald Green Metallic

 

2016 Sierra 1500 Changes:

 

(N37) manual tilt and telescoping is added to (PCM) SLE Convenience Package on Double and Regular Cab HD Radio: returns to (IO5) and (IO6) audio systems (PDB) SLT Premium Package available on Crew Cab and Double Cab models (PDC) Texas SLT Premium Package available on Crew Cab and Double Cab models

(Z71) is available on 4WD models only

Looks like for trucks its only on GMCs? Interesting Chevy only has one white now, after almost a decade of two....

Some more info to digest:

 

- Base Sierra drops Halogen projector for HID projector. LED headlights are standard on Denali. SLE and Denali run the LED tail lamps.

 

- HD trucks get HID projector standard.

 

- Power locking gate is SLE, SLT and Denali.

 

- Mahogany Metallic(?)

 

- SLT and Denali get the LED fog lamps.

 

- LED headlights are available on SLE and SLT with All Terrain only (might be a launch only thing as well).

 

- Power running boards are Denali only. 3 operating positions. Stow (tucked up), Cab (normal get in position) and Bed. Yes...Bed. These babies articulate back towards the cargo box. The back of the step ends up near the front of the rear wheel for box access.

 

- Regular and Double cab are first and start up October 5th, Crew the 28th. Ordering starts end of August.
