Sad Vibe Day

I get tired of these posts.

My 14 is smooth. My neighbors 14 is smooth. My pastors 14 is smooth. Everybody I have spoken to who owns a 14 or 15 has never had a vibration problem. Are there some with issues, yes. But there are FAR more who don't have a single issue. Chicken little syndrome if you ask me..

Here's my whole take on the vibration thing. There appear to be several causes to the vibration, and everyone drives their trucks in different places, so it's very hard to nail down exactly what is causing it. Some are definitely worse than others. Case in point was a 2015 CC 2wd I recently had as a service loaner. It vibrated all the time. I understood what people were talking about.

I have had two K2XX trucks, and neither one had what I consider to be a vibration "issue". They both have behaved identically. There is one stretch of highway 75 north of Plano that is old concrete. It has a distinct waviness to it for about 5 miles. You can actually see it if you look far in front of you, almost like small ripples on a smooth lake. My truck vibrates on this stretch of highway. Nowhere else. It's not bad, and it doesn't last for the entire stretch, but it happens. Oh, and it only happens in that 65 - 75 mph range. I'm sure it has to do with resonance at a certain speed, coupled with the bad pavement.

Now If I commuted along that 5 mile stretch of road every day and nowhere else, I would be at the dealer too. But there, it would be hard to duplicate. Therein lies the rub.

For me, since it only ever happens in this one place, that I drive on very infrequently it's not an issue. For others, it may be more of an issue.

99.9% of the time, my truck is smooth, solid and quiet inside. And I LOVE driving it!

Oh yeah, then there is that sexiness thing.

I had something very similar happen on I-20 just outside of Augusta, GA. In my case, I moved from the right lane where vibration was occurring to the left lane and it was back to a silky smooth ride. I've also driven I-16 from Macon to Savannah several times. This is an awful stretch of highway. The truck rides almost as smooth as wife's Jetta and smoother than my old '98 Durango. It is MUCH better ride on this stretch of road than our 30' class C motor home :)

If only there was a way to drive a vehicle before you paid for it... Then you would know if had a vibration before you bought it! What an incredible idea!!!

And people seem to ignore the fact that most of these trucks now have 20" wheels. Low profile tires don't absorb nearly as much road vibes as an 18" or 16" tire will. I think a lot of people's problems are with the tires and balancing.

No vibe issues in my '14 Silvy and none in my '15 GMC Max Tow. And I am lovin my GMC!!

And just in case you were wondering, all salesmen dance around topics, that's what they do. They do this because they don't know squat.

I've got a 15' Silverado with no vibration issues, but the transmission programming really makes driving the truck frustrating. I was a Ford customer for decades, but was afraid to by an all aluminum truck the 1st year it cam out. If I had it to do all over again, I'd buy something different for sure. I drive the wife's Toyota when I need to drive a vehicle that shifts like a car or truck should. After driving her Highlander, I really feel sick driving the Silverado it shifts so bad!!!!

Don't forget to add the fact that most of these trucks then get a real aggressive tire on them. So a low profile tire with a real aggressive lug that may or may not be properly maintained and rotated.

To a degree, this is why I leased mine. Let's be honest - you can tolerate an issue for a little while (AKA 39 months) if you know you will be turning it in and walking away.

No vibration (or other issues) at 3800 miles. Towed trailer good, too. This lease is likely a keeper.

No my truck doesn't vibrate. I work in the svc dept at a Chevy dealership, and have seen one truck with a vibration, and it wasn't that bad. We swapped wheels/tires and the vibration went away, or at least the customer was happy (he's actually a member here). I hate to say it, but I would actually like to see a truck that has a vibration.

Are there any factory updates for your trans? Assuming 5.3/ 6 spd?

I know tunes outside of GM voids the warranty, but have heard mostly positive things from places such as Black Bear.

That said, have had a gmt 400, 3 800's(2 had an allison) & now a 900. Have always heard of shifting complaints via internet forums, but never experienced them empty or loaded.

Never have had anything tuned or even updated via factory. I loaded the duallies(800's) beyond the max too.

I had a 14 and it was smooth. My 15 vibrated when I got it and all it ended up being was the crappy ls2 tires. Truck is all good now.

Basically it comes down to this...if you are looking for something hard enough, you will find it.

I was dead set on a 15 f150 after my 14 Silverado until I drove one.

If you are passing on the GM truck, buy the Ram.

2014 Sierra 4x4 DC with Z71. No vibrating issues. Engine is so quiet and cab so well insulated from road noise that I blame those for most things people call for clunks and vibrations.

Where are you located in Ohio? I will bring mine to you since it is still under warranty. Do you have a PICO? I am more than willing to bring it to you.
