I found a use for the crappy front shocks I removed for new 5100s.

Didn't have a helper to bleed some brake fluid so an old front shock compressed between pedal & piece of plywood against the seat worked to push the pedal down for me.

Just did this mod today (only took a couple of minutes and a 99 cent diode) and hopefully it helps with the crappy picture quality from my backup camera at night.

Can I use any diode I have or does it have to be a certain one? Also any idea if I can do this one, AND do the other one everyone has been doing in this post aka (the one where the fogs come on with your low beams)

If you’re doing the reverse and cargo lights mod, you can use a jumper and you’ll have cargo lights and reverse lights any time either are triggered. Or a diode will allow one to work without the other depending on which way you restrict power to flow.

If you're getting old and feeble like me, slap one of these in your valve cover and get all of that oil inside the engine rather than rust-protecting the side of it:

By the way, check to see if the tabs in your valve cover are at the 3 and 9 positions.  If they are at 12 and 6, then you'll end up 90 degrees out of phase.  Don't ask how I know.

(You "digital" people won't be able to figure this out!)

Just ordered one for my 2014 Silverado. I sure hope this makes it easier to add oil after an oil change.

I had this in my '14, 5.3L. I left the flapper clamped open and get the resonator. It had a deep tone and wasn't too loud at all. Sounded awesome. I would just take the valve out though to prevent the fffffff sound... There was NO drove anyway.

I have the 6.2L now so unfortunately I couldn't buy this again since it's 3"piping.

Summit Racing has them in 3”

Reading is fundamental. I read what you wrote and ordered the extension. My tabs must be at 12 and 6. I am 90* out.

Got tired of oiling down the side of my engine with spillover from 5 qt jugs.  A little work with a Dremel tool to cut another tab path and a nice steady place for my funnel.  You have two tabs at the 12 and 6 positions.  Have to cut a new path for the 12 in the new fill tube.

Have you got a picture of the slots you can share? I need a little more detail so I can mod mine.  I need to use the Dremel on mine to get it to fit with the opening correct.

Edit: I bought the oil fill lid from your first post from Amazon. I assumed you fixed it by using a Dremel. I now see that you bought another oil fill with only 1 slot and made the other slot.

The tab layout is shown in the secondary picture found in the ebuy-referenced listing.

Get the one-tab one and cut your own notch with the Dremel.  After all, if a 75 year old modder can do it...………...

$2.97 at Lowe's.  Snug fit, even after you remove/trash the clamp.  Did this just in time for any snow we may get this winter.

It’s only in reverse. You can’t use it while driving forward. And it’s because it’s drawing the reverse light power to drive the cargo lights.
