GM Updates 2018 Equinox Info With 2 Key Facts

GM sent out a blurb this week on the new Chevy Equinox. If the Equinox was not one of GM's most important upcoming launches we may have skipped this news. The compact crossover is now the largest non-truck market (according to GM) and the Equinox has been way underperforming this year. Its sales are typically half that of the top models in the segment. That could change, and we are rooting for the Equinox to succeed.

 

GM says the new crossover will start at $24,475 including destination when it goes on sale in about two or three months. GM had previously announced a Q1 start for the all-new 2018 model Equinox but had not said when the 1.6-liter turbo-diesel version would be available. GM added that tidbit this week as well and the date is Q2 2017.

 

If you have not been following the compact crossover market closely, the entry price Chevy chose is right in line with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. Entry prices are nothing more than marketing tools in general, so we will be interested to see how a well-equipped AWD Equinox stacks up to the CR-V and RAV4.

If GM wants to increase in this segment GM has to do better then Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRV. And a better price.

 

Today it seems that Ford and GM are just attempting to copy RAV4 and doing a lousy job at coping.

 

Me. I'd pick the RAV4 any day over the competition.

My parents had a RAV 4 for a loaner while their Monte Carlo had body work done. Seemed like a shit box to me. Haha!

Toyota's, Mazda's, Honda's, Nissan's all seem like shit boxes to me for the most part. Just ditched my Mazda 6, for a Malibu, my Brother ditched his Mazda 6 for a Cadillac ATS. Brother had a 40k top of the line MZ6, and it was still loud and missing a lot of key creature comforts, for instance it didn't even have remote start. The low end MZ6 I had was really loud, low quality materials and it just didn't fit me or my wife, arm rests in the wrong place for example. My parents had a Terrain, seemed a lot nicer than the CRV's, RAV4's and Rouges my wife and I shopped against an Equinox. The reason we didn't get a crossover is we wanted the better fuel economy and lower payment from the sedan and I don't need an SUV to haul anything being that I have a fullsize truck to haul stuff. If I had got an SUV I was gonna get an equinox or a terrain, the Ford Escape, CRV, RAV4 and Rogue all seemed very cheaply made to me. I am hoping that in 3 years when it's time to replace the Malibu that a Equinox will fit the budget.

I find the same to be true with ALL vehicles today, except that I like NONE of them.
