I Just recently purchased a 14 Silverado with the 5.3. There are so many things i want to do includes

-programmer

-intake

-exhaust

"???

I would like to start with the intake but i cant make up my mind. Either Air Raid or KN. There is about a 150.00 price difference so i would like to go with the Least expensive witch is the KN but i would rather get the best the first time...

Please give me opinions,

Personally I'd grab either an AFE sealed intake or an MIT. Spend the money on a good exhaust and don't look back. I recommend corsa but it's a biased opinion. Blackbear tune is in the works for me.

Is there a reason for a sealed intake vs K&N style on these trucks? I have been going back and forth between K&N and GMPP intake.

While gains from these intakes are 'probably' marginal, I chose the AFE for a few reasons. First, it retains the factory fender air inlet - meaning it's a true 'cold air' intake. Second, it looks like it could be a factory component. And third, I've used them in the past and had great luck. I never like using an oiled filter on personal vehicles. I've had to replace quite a few MAF sensors at work due to oiled filters soiling the heating elements. AFE offers a dry filter choice, and that's what I went with.

KN Blackhawk is a dry filter, went this route for the above mentioned reason. It is an open design and I wasn't sure about it when it was first installed. Had it on for several weeks now and like the sound. Not sure if they are available for the trucks yet, but Green comes highly recommended from the Vette community. I called Green first part of December and they said they would be available around the first of the year. I decided not to wait and go with the KN.

I'm with you, I also have an AFE intake and that combined with a BlackBear Tune and aftermarket exhaust makes this truck move and sound mean
