2001 Silverado, 150k miles, Auto long bed single cab.

Picked up a project 01 with an ignition problem. Here is a description of the issue I'm trying to fix:

There is a push button start that has been rigged into it. The only way it will start is to turn the key to START while pushing the start button. If I try to turn the key without pushing the button nothing happens. Also, just about any key will fit and turn the cylinder.

The SECURITY light stays on. Is this in pass lock?

Pulled the steering column cover to mess with the top wiring harness with the three wire connector and nothing.

But I DID see these two little boogers hanging there. I can't find what these wires are in my haynes manual but they obviously go somewhere. Maybe related.

Any thoughts on where I should begin to try and get this sorted out?

Easy way is to get a complete steering column with ignition key from a salvage yard.
