Theres is no truck I'd rather have than my sierra 6.2. I think it's the best truck on the market.

Until the new raptor was released. Atleast the 6.2L raptor was a lot slower and got terrible fuel efficiency, now we have nothing on it.

Way way way nicer suspension, faster, more features/tech. Sorry raptor is awesome and gm has nothing to compete with it. If they put out a sierra/silverado 6.2 with the Colorado zr2 dssv suspension, front locker, and adaptive cruise cruise control, I'd change my mind.

Until then, raptor > any gm truck

You have to admit, our suspension is f-ing terrible.

I have a feeling GM is going to release a raptor fighter in the next generation, hopefully 2019 model year but doubtful.

The only thing I hate about my truck is the upper arm mounts are angled which creates problems when lowering. Other then that i like the suspension

I will concede and agree that the raptor is a better for people that want to go do some baja driving or off roading but for street driving I'll take my magnaride suspension any day.

You need to drive both on the street

Raptor is way nicer on the street. Maybe doesn't handle quite as well on pavement, but it's way more comfortable.

You feel every little crack in the z71 suspension and mag ride. In the raptor you'd barely feel it if you ran over a curb.

That's actually my favorite thing about the raptor, the on pavement comfort

Well guess I gotta test drive one. I can't knock something I haven't driven. I just know I have never been in a truck that rides better than my Denali even with 22's.

As much as I dislike Ford I would like to drive one too. I guess I look at a truck I'm interested in buying and think to myself it has to do everything I need it to do. I tow and haul lots of weight (more than the raptor can) and drive the family around. It's definitely a cool concept and I wish GM would make a similar truck although I have to be honest with that wish... They would screw it up.

I had a denali loaner with mag ride and 22's.

I thought it was pretty harsh. You can feel every damn crack in the road. Nobody wants that much feedback unless it's a sports car.

The mag ride denali took a pothole way better than my current truck, and it handled slightly better. The cracks in the road were actually worse with the denali though.

I wish I had the 6.2 cause my heavy ass truck could put it to good use (in my test drive in a sierra 6.2, I had to feather it a bit to keep it from breaking loose). I can see how the 5.3 could be favored by some since it costs $15 less a tank vs the 6.2 with premium for same mpg, and most folks don't exactly gun it all day long doin' truck things. I will get a 6.2 if/when my non di 5.3 craps out some day, as Im paying for premium with my tune anyway. As for the raptor, it did 0-60 in 5.7 sec on motorweek so Im pretty sure a 6.2 is right there with it in a 2017 depending on the day and the driver...

Can't tell you how many times I've stomped the gas pedal to hard and i've spin the tires when taking off from a light.

No brake stand needed if you wanna lay some rubber

The 5.3 is sufficient but the 6.2 will perform as expected

For the people saying others are stupid for owning a "fast" truck, you probably live in a huge metropolis area with beautiful, bump-less, multi billion dollar concrete freeways where Lamborghini's and Ferrari's are a daily sighting. Some of us live where the governments don't give a crap if you're driving on a highway made of patches or that the roads have asphalt older than Elizabeth II. Here in rural Canada, if your a car guy and you see a C6 Corvette, you go talk to that person. That is how rare cars are in this part of the country. So, what does any speed, horsepower-loving, gear junkie that lives in an area unaccepting to sports cars do? Buys the closest thing to a daily drivable Corvette he can, a 6.2L K2. I have dubbed mine the Canadian Corvette. I am still going to buy a C6Z, but the only place we can drive it is the highway, or trailer it to the big city/track.

Nope...it's not that.

It's the whole street racing and driving a full size pickup truck on public roads @ 80+ mph thing. It's all fun & games til some innocent person or family gets killed.

I think for most people it's about the 0-60, off roading, not so much high speed stuff. Some public roads out west and south they have high or no speed limits. Then there's drag strips. I think that's why this is an enthusiast web site. Then there's people who visit this site who think they need to assume that we are all law breakers, and you are?

I bought my regular cab to build up to go fast. I bought my 6.2 to tow which is useless now because I got a bigger trailer

if you're speeding your speeding, if someone gets hit by a person going 30 let alone 80 they're most likely getting killed regardless of the vehicle. And I totally agree is about acceleration not top speed.

I have a 92 low rider stroked blown Chevy, the latest in many high performance trucks and cars I've owned in the 45 years driving. Never been much for speeding, I just like the horsepower. There's been times I've been over the speed limit, anyone who drives has. Owning and talking speed doesn't translate to speeding.
